335 shouldn't be harder to sell than a M5 with 100K+ miles.
Time to do the car shuffle in my family. I love the M5. My wife likes it (rare for my cars). She hates her car. Her car will be harder to sell, so the M5 is going up for sale. If she didn't want to sell her car, there's no way I'd be selling the M5 right now. For people that know me, they know that this is a RARE statement (I tend to go through cars quickly).
Stats:
2002 M5
~115k miles
Lemans Blue
Blue/Black interior
The bad (full disclosure on my part):
- some rock chips
- 2 wheels finish is peeling
- small oil leak maybe? (not enough to hit my garage floor, but there's oil on the undertray)
- rear window shade clips are broken (I have the metal replacement tabs, just haven't installed them)
- PDC buzzes since one of the sensors is flakey
- front bumper has been drilled for license plates and has a crack (from the previous owner)
- the front undertray is cracked and a piece missing (in front of the temperature sensor)
- it needs a bath
- potentially it needs a new thermostat, but it's been too hot here to verify
The good:
- E60 short shifter kit with new bushings (makes a massive difference) and alcantara shift boot and e brake boot
- I replaced the o2 sensors (all 4), front windshield trim, rear side sunshades all this year
- front suspension completely redone (3 tie rods, control arms, etc.) + alignment
- power steering hoses and reservoir replaced before my trip
- rear differential seals replaced (all three)
- new tires ~5k miles ago (Hankook Evo V12s, 4600 miles of that was highway)
- interior is in great shape
- recent clutch (~90k, previous owner)
- cats replaced (~90k, previous owner)
- the other sun shades work great (in fact the side ones have been repaired and won't break again)
- the dot matrix displays have been replaced (no missing dots)
- has an aux input and XM radio installed
- additionally has a media bridge installed
- nav disks have been updated (has the 16:9 nav)
- brake/clutch fluid flushed this year
- brake pads are in good shape
- car has been tinted
- bimmerzone spare tire + compact jack and breaker bar in the trunk
- Audi bag hooks in the trunk to keep bags from shifting
- oil change before my trip (TWS 10w60)
- all air filters (cabin and intake) have been changed
- MAF tests have been good
Extra parts:
- full set of RA1 takeoffs with 2-3/32nds
- parts for the muffler delete (Magnaflow tips and some 45* bend pipes)
When I say I'd drive this car anywhere, I literally mean anywhere. In July I took my wife and kid on a 4600 miles trip through 10 states with absolutely no issues other than a squeaky door (lithium grease and it no longer squeaks). The car burned NO OIL during the trip.
Pictures:
From when I bought it (notice the cracked undertray)
Interior from when I bought it (notice the tall OEM shifter which has been replaced)
Halo shots:
Asking price: $17,000 (and I'm pretty firm).
Only trades I'm interested in would be an aircooled 911. Must have AC :)
