Probably not. Go to Costco and see what you can get for a little more than the cost of repair on the old unit.

I had mine fixed... I think it was $225 at this place on Shiloh and 14th in Plano. It was about $500 to replace with one that had all the inputs and such that we used, so I went ahead and did it.
Doubtful it's worth repairing. You can find really, really nice tvs for 500-700 if you look. Slickdeals.net is a good place to watch if you are in the market for anything
If you can get it repaired under $300, seems like a no-brainer. I haven't seen any 42" plasmas for that price, so replacement will cost you double that with tax. Unless you just really want a new TV, might as well call the place on Shiloh.

I guess it isn't hard to convince me to buy a better TV than an old, cheap plasma. I don't know your financial situation at all.
I would scrap it and get a new TV. You can get lots of good stuff in the 42" range for a reasonable price. (400ish or less)
