I ordered some rennenmetal brackets a while ago, once they come in and I install them, i'll let you know about the latches
I need the right side windshield latch mechanism for a factory hardtop on my 1992
mine has gotten to where it will not "click" and stay closed
it clamps down ok, but then pops open by itself since it doesn't click into a closed position
tried adjusting tighter and looser, took it off and somewhat apart, and can't see what's wrong
anyone who has bolted their hard top on have the latches ??

thanks
let me know
BTW, called MadzaSpeed and they say the soft top latch is the same as the hard top latch
going to verify that today
so if anyone has a junk soft top frame, the latch may be a candidate

I have an old pair of soft top latches. They're well used and have some oxidization, but could probably be cleaned up a little. They're in ok shape mechanically, but the plastic adjustment nut keepers are busted.
Let me know if you want them.
Edit: I did see a DIY on miata.net where a guy fixed this problem. Ill see if I can find it.

the repair looks like the way to go
I had the button off the latch but other than trying to epoxy or weld/braze to build it up, I didn't see a way to make it fatter to where it would hit on the latch
didn't think of a screw head but that's what I'll do
took the soft top latch off and put it on the hardtop, so now I'm set
thanks
