    Default Did you know?

That my 1999 Miata with 80k miles on it is worth $15,000 in Australia? And Australian money is worth the same as US money.

There has to be a way to capitalize on this.....

Nope. And there is no one there that will pay that much for it. You can get every bad ass car from the uk and japan there. Have a highschool buddy down there.

On top of that shipping and taxes will kill you. To get a adaptronic harness will cost you $400 usd and the harness is only $100 usd local.

Oh I must have read something wrong. Though cars do seem to be more expensive there.... I assumed because people could afford them since Australia's money market is booming!

It's interesting as an economist to see how much differing regulations and testing ad to the price of a car for such a small market (TX has a bigger economy - GDP, 200. They'd significantly reduce these cost is they just used EU mainland safety and emissions standards or even the US.

That is very interesting.... So the US saves money by buying bulk and buying cheaply manufactured cars... and Aussies maintain profits by buying smaller amounts... and looking for perfection in the build.

Squirrels ate my pecan crop last year... and they're putting a major dent in it again this year. I don't want them in my back yard.

We spend a ridiculous amount of money converting our machines to meet Australian safety and operational specifications (they already comply with US and EU mandates). Enough so that we have a senior engineer who has spent two years developing Aussie-approved factory options so that we don't spend $1 million per machine converting them in port.

The Aussies drive me nuts. It's like they look at US and EU specs and then add a tweak just to make it their own.
