    Default My new car...

    Sort of.

I bought this car a few years ago as a near basket-case because I had owned a new 2000 Miata for a few years and always wanted another one just to play around with. The driveline was mostly solid, maintenance needs aside, so I ignored a lot of cosmetic stuff (that I shouldn't have) and bought it. It was a weekend hobby at first, but after a couple of years of falling in love with my sad neglected car but not making as much progress as I wanted, I decided to just pay to have done what I wanted so that I could drive it every day.

So with tons of thanks to Rogue / Miata Solutions, Gary (& William) / TDR, and my wife's uncles (who run an auto upholstery shop in Midland and redid the seats), here's my sweet, nearly-like-new 93 C:

    This is how it started...

Man, it's hard to imagine it's the same car, looking back at old pictures.

Anyway, I'm not a bragging type of person, but I'm really proud and excited about the progress the car has made. There's more I want to do but I've got the car where I really enjoy driving it, so I'm going to just do that for a while as I refine my list. Oh, and not that they need anymore recommendations within this community, but both Rogue and TDR did great work and also were flexible with scheduling. Glad this forum is here so I can show off a little!

Yeah, including quite a bit of bodywork: a gouge down the driver side door (and rear quarter behind the door); battery corrosion through the passenger side rear quarter (that piece got cut out and replaced)... plenty of other stuff. I'm sure Rogue was cursing. In hindsight, I should have gotten a straighter body and spent (less) money on any mechanical defects. I would have probably been ahead. But that's not what I did, and by the time I figured out my error, I was already attached.

Which is not to say I have any regrets, this car is awesome to drive, and I'll keep it long enough that the total cost doesn't bother me at all. It's my only car and I'm in it for far, far, less than any new car I've owned over the years.

Nice, I have a lot of work to do to my '93 to get it near yours. Did you get a Family discount from the Uncle's in Midland? I need to reupholster my seats but I have only been quoted BIG bucks to do them.

The car looks great! I'm glad you were happy with our work. Steven did a great job on the paint. The car looks practically new and rides even better than new now.

Looks great, I'd like to see some more pics. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the paint set you back, I am wanting to update my faded red in the future.
