Default AX junkies Jan 8 in Houston

Houston SCCA is hosting an event on Jan 8.
    Royal Purple Raceway

    Road trip?
    M3 is always the answer.

I'm game, but wouldn't it be easier to rent MW and have a TnT/Party?

You had me until you said SCCA. I am with McShane, cheaper to rent MW and tear it up.

For a club to host at MW you are probably looking at $800 in cost, insurance, site rental, and misc crap.

Who would be interested on Jan 7 or 8?

I might go to the new track in New Orleans on Jan 14 if they host an open track day. Jan 28 is NTAXS event and NASA at MSR-H.

I would need to source a co-drive or I could just be out there to see people/help out if the event was on the 7th. I fly back to Tucson on the 8th so that date would be a no go for me.

I don't think I was talking club hosting the event. Clubs just get in the way of fun mostly! MW doesn't require insurance and is ~$250 for day. Cones and timing are the only issues at that point no? Myself and a few others are looking to rent it in Feb/Mar just for fun.

Have you been to a Texas Time Trials event? It is basically cones, timing, and tons of seat time with no cone shagging.

Talk to davidss, he owns some timing equipment and old cones.

I could be ready for a 1/7 or 8 event. Depends on weather.

I'm in for the 7th or 8th. If we do the 7th, you're welcome to co-drive my NB. CosmosMpower would charge something like $150 to co-drive his Elise, so I'm thinking $10 is about right for my Miata.

You might be able to talk me down to $7.50

Yeah, but CosmosMpower also provides a happy ending, so...

You should track your tire costs. You might find that like me, they are costing you about $5 per run on average.

You're costs are probably correct, but I figured I'd give Greg a break since a). he's not around to ask again + b). I'd like to get his input on how the car feels

Additionally, I'm in denial. If I really figured out cost/run or cost/sec of seat time... I really don't want to go there.

Oh yea, no happy ending either. You're also not allowed to listen to Wu-Tang Clan in my car.

I have decided to try and have an informal AutoX at MW, on January 7th. We are not posting this on DLB, so if you are interested, you will have to RSVP me directly. If we get too many people interested, we'll have to make it an official Club event, but for now let's just see who is interested.

$25 per person for the track rental fee. I'm still waiting to reserve the track, as Bob seems to be out of town for the Holidays.

If you're in, send me an email to [email protected]

    Thanks!

That will be a deal breaker.
