Default Click, Click, Click, nothing then whirl??

So the POSIV ('94 miata) didn't like the cold this morning I got the standard Click, Click, Click, then nothing that signifies your battery went to a better place then I got a bonus noise.....

Wierd thing was before I push started it it went Click, Click, Click, nothing, then with the key on I got a whirl noise?? Why would the radiator fan come on? I need all the limited power for the starter and the car is running the fan??

    Why?

Push started it since I live on a hill and it made it to work with no problems.

Fuel pump getting some juice? Or was it for sure from the engine bay?

Not sure if the AC fan might come on if you have the AC enabled? It was a little "warm" yesterday, so maybe it was still on.

Nope I shut everything down after the first click.

I get that occasionally too. I wrote it off to a LINK quirk. Apparently it is not.

FWIW in the nearly decade I've had the car, nothing ever came of it. I'm on the second battery, alternator, and starter that the car ever had (and I only replaced the alternator and starter because it sat for two years at that point and I just didn't want to take the chance with them).

I bought mine last year from here:
    East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc.

    Phone: 972-616-0682

Can't remember the price but I think it was around $75 and it was on my way to work so no shipping.

Could it have been the starter? I'm thinking when you let off the key, the starter might have a little bit of torque left on it when it disengages from the flywheel and might spin a bit...

I'm really surprised by my Duralast Gold battery in the Green Glory hole. I bought it in 2007, it's been through brutal winters, I've discharged it over 10-times at the track, I've punished it a few times working on cold-start for MS beack when I had no clue what I was doing. I recently let it sit from October-January, cranked on it for about 2-hours over and over (dumb mistake, lol)...and it still fires up every time. I have not had this experience with other batteries.

My original '90 battery did the same. Brutal upstate NY winters, being completely dead for two years, constantly drained from me testing things. Finally gave up for good in 2007. 17 years for the original battery was a shocker to me. I've been on the Duralast Gold since 2007 as well, with another two years straight of being completely dead, constant full drains, and just recently another year+ of being completely dead. I thought it was done this last time, but a nice 20+ hour trickle charge brought it right back up.

The car once again didn't want to start so went to O-O-O-O'Reilly's and a new shiny AGM Battery is now in the trunk of the POSIV.

I was going to order one but since I got to push start the car twice on the same day I figured it was past time to buy a battery....

I also think the Warranty was better on the O's battery.
