Thread: I may need some hands on help soon

NP Majik,... I will do a search, but I will check into the place in HUrst also and thanks for the suggestion.

I passed on a Supercharger before I got this car because of all the maintenance issues related with the particular model installed on this Miata I was looking at.

Turbo seems to be a more maint. free application for me, I would preffer not to have to bother with it as much as possible after instal.
I am thinking entry level Turbo at this point.

And I most certainly appreciate the offer for help when the parts come in, that is a very thoughtful and generous offer.
Thanks again, for the info on alignment shops.
    Billy

really I have already considered the fact that the header will be useless to me after Turbo instal but should be able to recoup some of the cash spent on it, since it will be a while before I can even aford a Turbo, if I can get a hunder out of it that would be fine with me.

Did I miss something? I thought you were thinking about a RoadsterSport exhaust. Now it's Shocks and springs and a Turbo. Did you get the RoadsterSport? ....Jerry

I am planning many up grades this year and getting informed about my purchaces before I waste money.

Turbo will most likely not be this year.

    exhaust is next after suspension.

Does anyone know a place locally that sells the KYB AGX's?

I am calling all over the place today with no luck so far.

I've never bought springs separately, so I can't answer that one.

I knew about that place Sammm, I just thought if it were not too much more I would try and locate them locally and go buy them today while I am off work.

But I guess they do not sell them in Ft Worth or surrounding areas.

So to plan B, ordering online, will place order today.

When I bought mine for the 92 B&T it was more expensive locally than online... even if you include S&H.

You won't regret buying those online. They aren't something that typically arrives with any problems.

I should have the KYB AGX's by Tuesday, I had a financial setback and had to spend a little of the cash I put back so the Springs will be another week or two. I saved $75.00 on the shocks, thanks for the heads up guys
After this project comes the Hp upgrades which I am really really looking forward to.
Also I am in discussions with Discount Tire over my rims, may get the ones I originaly wanted after all (limited edition Konig Quickks) in the Gold finish, the ones I have now are pitting pretty bad and I have not left the street with them and only had them a month, also still dont have matching hub centers for them.

I also plan on meeting you all soon at a Auto X event just to come and hang out, and check out the cars for fun, maybe a Mineral Wells event since its about 30 min. from where I live, and I have family out there.

Thanks again for all the great advice and help from everyone, I will keep you updated as the parts come in.

'Tis true indeed. There's one coming up two weeks from today in Mineral Wells, if you check out the Autocross Events section.

I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy a $68.00 set of dust boots for my new set up (OUCH!), I cant find any dust boots anywhere for a 99 Miata.
NA dust boots are all over the place, but no 99 dust boots,... oh I take that back I did find one place just now that sells them at $31.00 each...

thats just crazy. for rubber, do you think I could get a paper towel holder and some duct tape to work?

really if anyone knows where I might find some at a reasonable price I will buy ya a 6 pack.

If your current boots are OK don't bother replacing them!

    There I saved ya $68.00!

Billy, if your current boots are toast, let me know. I've got an old (but good) set sitting around in my garage that I'd be willing to part with for $20.

If money's an issue, go with those decent used ones from Iain. But if you can afford it, put in the new ones. Swapping the springs is a PITA, and it just seems like a waste not to take care of the boots while they're right there.

Just a quick FYI...the bump-stops are not part of the boots on the NB (99'-up) model Miata's like they are on the NA's.

I am sitting here thinking of how I can say this without the expense of sounding like a total dumba** and nothing comes to mind.
So I should check them by pulling the wheels and looking for them to be dry rotted and or cracked?

I appologize I have never done this before, I have always taken this situation to the local fix it place I used.

money is always an issue but the way I rationalize this is that, I had rather put new ones on and not have to do this all over again in the near future.

I just thought one of you guys might know someplace that sold them besides the dealer. They are high but not as high as the only other place I found that even offered them for sale.

And since I am going new springs, shocks, tires, wheels, why not boots.
So I am going down to the dealer to order this part tomorrow.
    I appreciate all the help.
You guys are a local teasure!
    Thanks again.

Yes. FWIW, I used the original boots on my '99 when we installed my new shocks (both times! :P )
