Default How difficult is it to swap interiors?

Thinking about trading my tan leather interior for a black cloth one, how difficult is it? Looking for first hand experience if possible.

Thanks guys any help appreciated. I have headrest speakers and all that also.

From what I have heard the dash and getting the carpet out from under the dash are the hardest parts. I know of one guy that just painted the tan part of his dash instead if pulling it.

You can always be lazy like me. I set out to do the same, but swapped the seats and package shelf carpet, pulled the plastic around the seatbelts. I like the look so I called it a day. Looks good on a black car at least.

I did it. Easy. Just sort of time consuming to do it right. And it's easy to get carried away and do a lot of other time consuming things while you are in there.

The hard part is getting all the parts lined up to do the swap.

I did it on my Black & Tan '92. You can read about it on MR.net

The only way you're going to see me pull the dash out of my car is if you point a gun at my head.

I did it, wasn't difficult but I didn't pull the dash so I probably didn't do it right

    Hasn't been a problem though.

The dash is actually very easy. The AC/heater stack on the other hand...

thanks for the replies, been researching it. More or less don't know if I'll have the time to do the dash swap, but I have interior paint from when I restored my 1971 Oldsmobile, I've repainted most parts of that car including the dash, just alot bigger work room lol

I've done it numerous times. Pulling a dash is not as hard as people make it out to be. Time consuming but not too difficult.

I had a black interior in my 1990 and now a tan interior in my 1994. I understand why people want a black interior, but the tan interior feels like it has a lot more room especially when the top is up.
