Considering the Mazda concept is naturally aspirated with 205hp... I'd say it is nothing like the Super20.

It's a beefed up NC, with almost identical styling to the Super20. Yeah it's no Super20, but maybe something that Mazda can actually produce and people can actually afford.

I/H/E and tune will do it.

Cams and RPM. Now that the RX-8 is out of production they can't run it in Grand-Am so they have to build something to go racing in GT. If they're going racing in GT with a Miata, oh man...I want to see that. Endyne has a 400 crank-hp build for S2000s, and it's naturally aspirated, lol.

i'm sure that's a crank hp rating, so that car is likely making about 175-180whp. Like trey said it's possibly cams and rpm. There are a few combinations that can get you in that range. Considering that the MZR engine has been in Europe since 1998, there's plenty of tuners/companies that can extract good power out of these engines. Goodwin Racing has a Cosworth version making 300hp.

It has to be more than I/H/E. don't think you can find 40 HP with those mods alone. But...an NC Miata with an honest 205 horses would be nice DD/ track toy combo.

If they are talking crank, then I/H/E+tune will do it. I suspect I'm very close to that now, with around 170 whp. I assumed they meant 205 whp. Dynotronics can get 260 out of a 2.5 with cams and race-car tuning.

    I bet you can bump from 87-octane to a 93-octane tune (12-17% positive shift in output on a 99 engine), I/H/E and get 185whp+ (on a fail-dynojet).

Well, at 200+ N/A HP I'd take this over the BRZ...

Enthusiasts of Mazda's RX-8 sports coupe are upset, as the only sports vehicle from that manufacturer with more than 200 hp has gone the clear way of the dodo. However, Mazda Motors followers can take heart, as the manufacturer is weighing whether to put the 205-horsepower MX-5 Miata GT into production. Production run of MX-5 Miata GT mulled by Mazda. Mazda is well aware of that and have created a number of one-off editions of the Miata, usually for show purposes. Whether or not the GT-5 makes it to production remains to be seen, but a tuned up special edition could be a lot of fun.
