How much $$$?
I'm heading out to ECR saturday for the track day, supposed to be sunny and cool. Anyone else want to go? I have no idea if they have green spots open, but you can call Maggie and see.

On the track, I am fearless.

My car is red, not green. Does that mean I get to drive with the red group?![]()
Hmm, this intrigues me, since I'm having speed withdrawal and have a set of Kumhos to burn up. Think they still need instructors? I might email Maggie tomorrow.

Yeah, started off a little chilly, but ended up being a great day of driving. I started off in the green group so that I could drive with an instructor. They assigned Dave/David to me (red S2000 w/ green wheels, Rcomp tires.) He was a great coach and helped me immensely. Here's a photo of us coming around the last corner before the front straight:

After the morning session, they bumped me up to the blue group and I got to run with those guys. Was a heck of a time and I learned a ton. Can't wait for the next one.

So, I also wanted to say ... all of you were right. It is all about the driver. I had one of the lowest hp cars on the track. But over the course of the day, I passed:
1. 2 GTRs
2. A Mercedes Coup
3. A turbo charged Eclipse
4. A Corvette
5. BMW something or other.
6. A Porsche (911? Carerra? Not sure)
When I passed the Porsche, Dave was pumping his fists in joy. Was a great moment for me personally. And all of it was clean, waved by.
I was only passed once, by a Porsche GT3 RS that was driven by an experience driver. I knew coming out of the pits that my streak was going to end soon. And it wasn't long before I saw him creeping up and I let him by.
That said, I think I am beginning to understand what you guys are saying about car vs. driver. I was eating people's lunch out there all day long because I was driving clean and listening to my instructor. My corner exit speeds were higher than most of the cars out there driven by the Novices. And so even if they had more hp, I'd be on them after each corner. This car is so amazing. The handling is very predictable and encourages confidence in the corners such that I was able to really drive it hard and not feel like I was out of control. It is truly a joy to drive. Oh, and the brakes were fantastic. Thanks to Track Dog for the help there. I had zero worries as I was braking later and later. I could get on them hard and they never started to fade. All in all, it was a great learning experience.
Oh, and one last thing. The guy running the event (forget his name) had some advice for us beginners. He said, "the number one performance part on your car is the driver. If you want to get faster, spend your money on seat time. This will give you the best results for your dollar." Pretty much what all of you have been saying. Good stuff.
