Thread: Ride height adjustment

    Default Ride height adjustment

I started adjusting my ride height for the first time this weekend and just a little while ago thought I was very close to nailing everything down. Then, when lifting from the diff, I noticed that the driver side came off the ground a considerable amount before the passenger side. This seems less than ideal, or am I wrong? If I'm right, I'm pretty much back at square 1 trying to get each corner correct.

I'm not really sure what you are trying to test by lifting it by the diff but that just tells me the right side has more weight. To make sure you have the heights set the same on all corners you want to measure with a tape measure from the fender well center of the wheel straight down to the center of the bottom lip of your wheel. Get the same reading on all four wheels and your good.

I've been measuring to the pinch weld but the idea is the same, I believe. Does the passenger side really have that much more weight? I counted the threads below the spring perch and counted about 10 on the driver side and 17 on the passenger side. That told me I was doing things wrong...

This is not a remotely accurate method to measure corner balance. Just set them wherever from the pinch welds and go on with your life.

That makes things easy... So it doesn't matter that the spring perches are set very differently? And it doesn't matter that one corner comes off the ground sooner that the other? Sounds like that could cause a problem in tight corners (being inconsistent between right and left handers).

I actually wasn't trying to do that, but now (after a little research), it seems like I should get it corner balanced. Is it not that important?

Got it corner balanced last weekend. It was way off. Next time will be better! Almost ready for autocrossing again. Thanks all for the input.

Where's a loadmaster when you need one? LOL (USAF reference...).

    Sorry for the thread-jack:

So who does corner weighting around here? I'm getting my new suspension and shoes put on soon and I would really like to ensure this is accomplished. Further, is there a good alignment source? The guys at the local places here are just operators who have no regard for the application of what they're doing.

I like TTW, but they are a long way from where I am and aren't open on Saturday (last time I checked) so I went to Cobb tuning in Plano this time. $180 for the balance and about $100 for the alignment.

I finally installed my coilovers two weekends ago and took it to TTW, formerly known as PPT, today for ride height, corner balance and re-alignment! AJ is awesome :)
I'm overdue for an autocross event dang it!
