    Default Pet Peeves

    My pet peeve for today.

Idiots that don't use their headlights on gray rainy days like today or when it's dusk. The headlights allow other drivers to see them! People should at least use their parking lights but headlights are preferred. If they have DRLs they're exempt. I actually see the benefit of DRLs and it should be standard on all cars if you ask me.

The problem with DRLs is the first design where only the headlights were on. So there are people running around at night with no taillights thinking they're good because some light is coming from the front

They need to wire cars so if the wipers are on, the headlights come on automatically.

Or maybe the car owners could learn to use the headlights when conditions require headlights.

    Just saying....

^Agreed, but that would require independent thinking and it seems most drivers are too busy talking and texting.

    Use Your Headlights

    • When it is cloudy, raining, snowing, or foggy. If weather conditions require you to use your windshield wipers, you must turn on your low-beam headlights.
    • On frosty mornings, when other drivers’ windows may be icy or "fogged."
    • Any time conditions (clouds, rain, snow, dust, smoke, fog, etc.) prevent you from seeing other vehicles. Other drivers may have trouble seeing you, too.
    • On small country or mountain roads, even on sunny days. This helps other drivers see you and may help you avoid a head-on crash.
    • When necessary to get another driver’s attention.

When we lived in Louisiana, late 1980's, it was illegal to drive with just your parking lights on. Their thought, I guess, was that parking lights are for parking. They also had drive through Daiquiri huts. Go figure.

DRLs are worthless. Now motorcycles and emergency vehicles are harder to spot.

The ST auto senses for the headlights, which is nice until times like right now when its bright out, but drizzling. Iit usually takes me a few blocks before I notice the car doesn't think I need them and to overide them.

There need to be more laws forcing people to do what I think is best for them.

Agreed... I'm not sure I remember getting schooled in proper headlight use in driver's ed, but I'm pretty sure my dad pestered me into it in high school.

There's clearly not enough common sense in this world. My biggest pet peeve lately is dealing with dumb f*cks who are messing with their phone and not paying any attention to the road. I got stuck behind/beside one stupid broad who weaved down Northwest Highway all the way from Fry's down to Plano Road. My favorite trick when I'm in my truck is to get up beside them and start slowly drifting into their lane to see how long it takes them to notice. It's even more fun than a brake check!

When people are behind me phone-whoring, I love to cover the brake and see the expression on their faces when they look up and see my brake lights.
