    Angry much?

I'm on your side, but take it down a notch.

Pretty sure you just filed a false police report, since you did sell the car and got paid for it. You've got a case for the tolls, but you might be defending a nice lawsuit if the kid gets arrested for a stolen vehicle. At least you "keeps it real!"

Did you file the online form with the state about the sale? If you did then you can get the tolls dropped.

I agree about the plates. Keep them and make them get temporary plates. Saves hassle all the way around.

Yep it is a easy deal you can even fill it out online or print and mail. Link - https://vision21.txdmv.gov/Vehicle/M...ification.aspx

YOU MUST SUBMIT THE VEHICLE TRANSFER NOTIFICATION WITHIN 30 DAYS TO REMOVE LIABILITY

If you submit a transfer notification within 30 days of sale, the buyer shown becomes the vehicle's presumed owner and may be subject to criminal or civil liability for parking tickets, toll violations, fines or other penalties that occur after the date of sale.

Unfortunately that doesn't always help (unless things have changed in the last 4 years). Even though I had done that as soon as I had sold my Nissan, I received a red light camera ticket in the mail 4 months after the sale. I told them I had filed the forms 4 months earlier but was told it takes 6 to 8 months for those records to make it into the system. They made me hand deliver a statement of sale with the buyers info, signed by a notary. I was pissed... Can't imagine how mad I would have been if it had occurred in another part of the state.

Last two cars I sold to individuals, I took them to the county courthouse when we exchanged money and title in front of the county tax assessor, and I watched them do the paperwork. I guess that an advantage of living in a small town and having a local sale.

I "sold" a motorcycle to a guy for labor / paint jobs he was to provide for me on other bike parts. He painted one bike and bailed, his uncle kept me informed of his where abouts and after about a year I rolled into his apartment complex and repoed the bike. He reported it stolen....even though it was not registered to him (the title was in my name and possession) I had to go to the police department with the title, explain the situation and listen to them bitch at me because I didn't give them a "heads up" that I was taking my bike back from that POS. I still shake my head thinking about this.........

I keep getting "ZipCash" invoices on a Honda minivan that has the same tag number as a Honda Civic I donated to KERA and filled out the TxDOT form online over 5 years ago.
I call NTTA every month, they look at the picture and decide that the minivan has Arkansas tags and waive the charge.
Every time they say, we've fixed this so you won't get any more invoices.

To bad we get to fund gov hair's Technology slush fund so he can repay his big donors, but we can't get TxDOT any technology.

If you had submitted the form online, it goes into affect immediately. I had thus same issue, and while I fought ntta for a while, I never had to pay squat. While the situation sucks no doubt, you really should have done your due diligence on this.

always keep your tags, now that you can... takes five seconds to fill out transit plates online. If they really want that 3 months of registration that's left on your plates and/or you're not going to go pick up a new car, have them go WITH you to the tax office.
