Default Slow Bone BBQ - it's freaking great

Picked up a pile of BBQ from Slow Bone for my folks and a couple of their visitors today, and DAMN it was good. If you're not familiar with it, it's the new-ish BBQ joint owned by Jack Perkins, the guy that brought you the Maple & Motor burger joint (and if you're not familiar with that place, then you should get to know it). Anyhow, I piled up a bunch of brisket, ribs, chicken and sausage along with a couple of sides. It was enough for 5 people, plus leftovers - all for the TCB-friendly sum of $54 (this tub o' meat could've fed 6 folks). Anyhow, price is beside the point, because this stuff was the bomb. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say their brisket is the best in Dallas - better than Hard 8 in Coppell, better than Lockhart Smokehouse, on par with Cooper's in FW, and almost as good as Louis Mueller's in Taylor. Ribs were awesome too - nice little baby backs. Don't know where they get the sausage or if it's homemade, but it was also really good, and not greasy. And the chicken was ridiculously good. So, if you're down the dumpy part of Dallas near the "design district," head up the road a little ways and check it out.

Anyhow, just thought I'd pass along the good news...

Dunno... I'll try it but I did roll my eyes at Lockhart. Their stuff NEEDED sauce.

Meh... you people and your fancy sauce...

Lockhart can be a little inconsistent. I think Hard 8 was my previous favorite...

I saw that place on Fast N' Loud and looked it up online. There were mixed reviews. Good to hear you liked it, because I love BBQ.

If BBQ needs sauce, then I don't need to eat it.

When properly cooked, good BBQ does not need sauce.

To me, it is like getting a steak, and putting ketchup on it.

Now, my theory is that they purposely make the meat bland, that way you can season it to your liking with sauce. But I am no sauce fan. I am a meat fan. I don't need no stinkin' sauce.

I have had Lockharts, and, it was not terrible. Have you had Shorty's off of HW80? To me, good brisket is moist, without being too oily, and it should NEVER just fall apart. Ribs are the same. Ribs that have meat falling off the bone are just overcooked. I want some tug to my meat, because I like to tug that meat off the bone, so I can put it in my mouth and let it slide down my willing throat. Mmm... oh, yeah, rawr, BBQ.

So, we need to have a BBQ day. Ill smoke a brisket or a few pork shoulders, and we can all fill our bellies with beer and BBQ, two of the most perfect foods ever born.

Best I have found in the Metroplex so far is The Feed Store in Southlake and North Main BBQ in Euless. North Main BBQ just beats out The Feed Store in my opinion.

I have been to most you listed and they just don't compare. I need to try Slow Bone sometime.
