Does anyone know of any data loggers that will work with the ancient OBDI connectors?
Okay I guess not. Has anyone tried out the Qstarz BT-Q1000eX GPS data logger?
Yes, it works well.

Are there any local shops that sell the Qstarz or is it only available online?
I use a QstarsBT 10hrtz GPS with TrackMaster on my Android phone.
It's lap times are accurate as are it's speed variations. The G-forces use the accelerameter of the phone and are OK depending on how you mount the phone.
The data analysis is not very good. You could probably export the data to a better analysis tool.
My plan is to move to a Traqmate system when funds become available.

Pick your software first then buy hardware that works with it.
What are you wanting to do? Track? Autocross? Do you have a codriver?
I only need it for recording my Autocross runs. I'm still a novice and have no consistency in my runs. The only consistency is that my first run will be my worst and the last my best. I need something that will tell me how I ran each run and learn to be more consistent with my race line on all runs.
I've only had one co-driver event. Since he beat me in my own car, that won't happen again ... LOL ... just kidding. Mr. McCann was kind enough to lend his expertise to help me tune in my new coilovers. I wish I had a tracker then to see how our race lines compared.
I'm leaning towards the Qstarz bt-g1000ex 10hz. It's an all in one and easy to use. You just turn it on and go on your way. Download the information to your laptop between morning and afternoon runs or wait till after the race and analyze the runs on your desktop in prep for the next weekend. Another advantage is that it's very transportable. Hence I can sneak it onto a top 10 drivers car and study their lines. Biggest advantage is it's under $200!
