Default Looking for road trip ideas.

Looking to plan a road trip around spring break.

We will have about 7-9 days given the weekends on either side of the week of spring break.

It will be me, my wife and by then 8 year old daughter.

We've considered Denver or St. Louis. Any suggestions for family friendly destinations that are out of state but with in a day or two drive? We'd love to do Yosemite and Yellowstone but I figure we'd need at least two weeks if we drove. We'd also like to drive up the east and west coasts but again, need more time so we are looking for adventure but a it closer to home.
    ...and across the line.

    Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, CO

Rocky Mountain National Park , NW of Denver, CO.

Bandolera National Park just outside of Las Alamos, NM. You can then stop and see the Museum at the National Laboratory.

Great Sand Dunes National Park near Alamosa, CO.

Mesa Verde National Park near Cortez, CO. Also close to four corners monument.

    Durango Silverton railroad, Durango, CO.

Highway 550 from Durango, CO to Ouray, CO. is an amazing drive.

Depending on how much time you have you can do mutiple as several of these are all in the same gereral area.

Spring Break, most of those will be snowed in, so there won't be a lot to see.

If you guys are interested in space, there's the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson KS (where Space Camp is). There's also a huge salt mine there where they store artifacts.

Best suggestion I have is Big Bend National Park. Beautiful, scenic, not crazy-crowded and pleasant TX weather. Split the drive in half by camping at the Monahans Sandhills on the way out. Big Bend has wonderful campsites, a hotel type lodge and actual stone cottages, as well as some great places to stay/eat in Marathon and Lajitas. The small border crossing into Boquillas, Mexico is now reopened too, which is a fun day trip.

+2 for Big Bend, it is awesome country. Take in Marfa, Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatory also.

Hwy 27 and 14 from Marshall to Yellville Ark. There's a little hotel by the dam at Bull Shoals Lake.
