Yeah, they didn't have an angle I could get to see the exhaust side of the chassis.

I have pics of the FWD version of the 2.0L cut-away engine they had in the lucite showcase where you can see the intake and exhaust manifolds, but that won't be the same as for the RWD version. It has the typical coolant intake/exit and air intake on the wrong side of the engine for RWD applications.

I'm in Barcelona now so I can't go back and take more pics. Did they have an ND at the auto show at the State Fair this year?

I doubt it. For some reason manufacturers never bother bringing anything to the state fair or the DFW auto show. I was frankly amazed the 2015 Muskrat was there at the Ford booth this year at the DFW Auto show.

I am pretty sure only MAJOR car shows are going to see the ND until they actually start rolling off the production line. IIRC, there are only 6 NDs world wide, and only 2 state side. There is no way they would let one site at a fair for a month.

My only complaints are the screen in the dash, only three HVAC vents in the dash, no functional cup holders (It's been 25 years and Mazda still can't develop a decent cup holder in the Miata?), and the geometric roll hoops. Well that and no pop-up headlights.

The door cupholders in my NC are perfect for water bottles, just DO NOT put a styrofoam cup from the Sonic in them. Talk about a freakin' mess!

There are four vents in the dash. There is one right under the screen that I'm sure will get broken the second somebody things it is detachable.

I've read that the price point will be similar to the current model, so starting in the $24K range. I'm guessing they will want to position it to stay competitive with the FRS/BRZ, CooperS and FoST/FiST, which are start just under $25K, I believe.

I went to the State Fair Thursday. There was no display by Mazda at all.

It's pretty amazing to me how small Mazda's market share is (and by extension how small their overall budget must be) when they have such good cars. The Miata is a perennial winner, the current Mazda 3, Mazda 6, and CX-5 are all class winners in comparison tests, almost across the board. I just don't get how Mazda isn't winning the sales war.

Maybe i'm just biased by my workplace, but every time I've been in a Mazda dealer, it almost felt like the stereotypical scummy car dealership. The sales people were high pressure and kind of rude. I was surprised I worked my way into a test drive. Maybe that's the problem. Though all this was before the new models came out, so things might have gotten an overhaul.

Nah, they are a lower-volume company, so they typically won't have the best salespeople, who are working at dealerships with more volume and higher margins which = bigger commission checks. I've noticed that some Mazda dealerships are better than others, but they all have that "2nd tier" feel.

When we purchased our CX9 from Eldorado Mazda it had to be the easiest car deal I've ever had. No pressure, fair price, straight forward and honest dealings throughout. Even the finance office was easy to deal with.

I wish Sewell sold Mazdas. I bought my scoobies from them and love them. They've been so great on the sales and service side that it is hard to consider non-Sewell brands because I know it will be a step backwards.

It probably depends on the dealer, for instance when purchasing my mazda 2 new at town north mazda it was the worst car buying experience imaginable. They tried everything, including the sheet of paper with multiple numbers and figures on it with a signature box. Before I even agreed to buy the car I was rushed into the financing department to sign the final papers. I ended up walking out on them as I was so offended, of course as I'm walking out the hardball sales guy comes running out and starts screaming at me for wasting his time etc etc. Although after all that I got an additional 1k off the MSRP for my trouble, and I hopefully got the sales man in alot of trouble. I really should have never bought a car there but I just loved the way it drove.
Of course with me being young that might have been a contributing factor. So your experience may vary but mine was enough to make me never go back except for the parts department and pick up the license plate.

I only bought one new Mazda (RX- and it was reasonably straight forward. I emailed a ton of internet managers and one in San Antonio agreed to my terms. Flew down, did the paperwork, had to wait 2-3 hours since the car wasn't fully ready and then drove home the same night. It was a long day but all the negotiating etc was done up front over the phone and email so not so bad.
