Default FS: 1990 Miata, great base for Chump/Lemons/Spec racer!

Hey all I'm selling a 1990 Mazda Miata that would be a great base for a Chump Car/Lemons or even Spec Miata or any other type of racing. It's runs and drives well. Has a new OEM clutch, new 2" straight pipes with a glass pack (meets Chump noise requirements). Has NEW Frozen Rotors with Hawk Blue pads installed (NEVER raced, or even driven on the road). We have a brand new .120 wall roll cage kit from miatacage.com, still in the box waiting to be installed. The cage alone was $1100+

The interior has been stripped and nearly everything interior besides front seats and dash have been thrown away. The top was torn and has been tossed. We began work on sanding the outside of the car to prep for paint. If I can find it, we will include an unopened can of custom mixed Jaguar French Racing Blue paint and various other painting supplies (reducer, primer, etc. not really sure, I'm not a painter, one of the other guys on the project was gonna do a DIY paint job).

This was a group project between myself and 3 other coworkers. One of the coworkers left the company and abandoned the project. The other coworker just quit and along with that stole our pooled funding for the project. I just had a kid and the other guy in the project was always kind of luke warm on the whole thing so the two of us just want to cut our losses and move on.

The car itself is solid it's just ugly as hell. Honestly, this car runs really well and it's bone stock so it meets Chump requirements. Install the cage and add your safety bits and you're ready to race.

We are asking $1500 but will accept reasonable offers. NEW PRICE $1000 for everything! FIRM!

The car is located in Lewisville and is available to view Monday through Friday 8-6PM (usually later M-W) or on weekends or later in the evenings by appointment. I've attached one pic I found on my computer, but it's old. Car has since been sanded. Will get more pics and info for any interested parties.

Right now I'm listing here and on the Chump Car forums. I will not be posting it on Craigslist just yet, I'd much rather it go to a Miata enthusiast who will see this project through than to another group or turds like I us that will just let it sit.

Alright, here are some pics. I told you guys it was ugly! However, I jumped in it today after sitting for 30+ days and it cranked right up! It will need some finishing up but this is a solid start to a race car project. The battery has already been relocated to the trunk but it hasn't been bolted down. We have an aluminum battery box to finish that job.

The wheels are spray painted green, we literally did ZERO prep work to them, I did it when I was bored. It will wipe off with some brake cleaner. But you will get an extra set of wheels.

I found the paint supplies- half gallon of custom mixed Jaguar French Racing Blue, gallon of primer, reducer, activator, and a few cans of a textured coating we were going to use for the interior. This is over $450 in paint supplies alone!

I don't have pics of the cage because it's in a storage bin behind a bunch of crap that I have to move to get to, but I promise, we have a brand new in the box cage from miatacage.com

And for the record, the car HAS TRANS FLUID! One of the guys wrote that on the windshield when we did the clutch and we just never scraped it off. All work has been done by PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS! The two guys from the project that quit are mechanics and did all the work and it was done in a full service professional shop (as you can see from the first pic I posted). This wasn't a bunch of shade tree mechanics doing the clutch in the driveway.

Again, this is a good start for a RACE CAR, I wouldn't buy this car to get it back on the road! Here is a (non-exhaustive) list of parts that are stripped and GONE: convertible top, door glass, AC system, door opening parts (gotta get in it Dukes of Hazzard style), passenger side seat, side view mirrors, carpet/door/panels/etc., headlights are smashed and don't lift up anyways, tail lights are removed but are in a box in the car. Anyways, you get the point. I'm just trying to be honest, it's not a lost cause by any means, but I don't want anyone showing up looking for a car for their kid or a new DD... this just ain't it. But it will make a sick Chump or Lemons racer! If you want it bring a trailer it runs like a champ but you obviously can't drive it on the road.

"relocated to the trunk" so you mean you moved it to the other side of the trunk, or what?

Now I'm embarrassed... obviously don't know much about miatas. Saw the battery in the trunk assumed it was relocated. Sorry for the stupidity.

Alright, here's the deal, we wanna see this thing gone by the end of the week. We're willing to take $1000 for everything... a RUNNING car with almost $500 in new brakes installed, a BRAND NEW cage, paint supplies, spare set of wheels. The cage alone is worth more than we're asking. Buy the cage for your current project and get a free parts car or another project for your kid/wife/friend/neighbor. This is our no BS no haggling bottom line price. Come get it!
