Default Looking for ride for Mar 1st SCCA event @ Lonestar

    Hello,

My name is Jim Reyenga and I have just moved to the area (Keller). I have been out of the country for the last 2.5 years and it will be a few months until I can reclaim my old STR S2000 that has been in storage. Though probably pretty rusty at the moment, prior to that rust setting in I have a pretty good track record at SCCA nationals.

Anyhow, maybe there are people on the forum I know from national autocross that can vouch for me as not just some random numb-nut? FWD, RWD, race tire, street tire, low power or high doesn't really matter to me and it doesn't matter if it's ultra competitive. I would be glad to pay an appropriate fee if you need/want a co-driver. My main goal is to just get out, get to know the local SCCA group, and maybe run into some familiar faces. Hopefully I can pull the S2K out of storage by March/April and have my old toy back to play.

BTW is this region super strict about ridealongs during timed runs? In general is the competition here "serious business" or more casual? Also anything I should know about in regards to the SCCA/NTAX/ER groups, I am sure they have their own flavors?

    Thanks,
    Jim

Welcome. Too many things to hit them all here, but it's a good local autox scene, and ride alongs are ok in pretty much all the clubs. ER uses SCCA classing and runs a similar format, just more runs typically. NTAXS and BMW use a few loose class groups and are very laid back.
I run a HS Mini in the local X class, and I'd be happy to let you codeine that event if you can stand to drive a car that barely outruns the kids on razor scooters.

Mike, thanks for the kind offer, I sent you an email.

BTW what's the link to the BMW site/schedule (assuming non-BMWs are free to play). Same for maybe a PCA or something like that? <updating google calendar with options>

^On top of this page there's a blue bar. One of the buttons is 'Autocross Calendar'. All of the local events will be posted there.
