If you check the who's online page, you will often see several search crawlers checking us out. Currently there is one called "WiseNutBot Spider". Anyone know anything about this one? Is it a new search engine that I haven't heard about?
Are you familiar with it, or did you just pull the name out and try it as a URL? I was a little affraid to do that, not knowing what may be on the other end.Originally Posted by POS Racing

Actually I have seen it before.
The ones that show up ____ Spider mean that either I or the makers of vBulletin have identified it... Otherwise it just shows the IP address (or to you guys, probably just "Guest".

It only goes to show when people can no longer discriminate on the grounds of race, religion, or sexual orientation, they can improvise and still find someone to hate. - Dave Moulton
CHECK OUT THE POWER OF MME!!!!!
If you put in lonestar Miata, the first result is http://www.dfwmiata.com/. You can find http://www.lonestarmiata.net/ way down at #9!![]()

Ah, but if you enter "lonestarmiata" then guess where MME shows up.

Yep.. that may be true today, but this site now contains "lonestarmiata" several times on this page. The search engine will pick that up the next time it crawls past and will likely give dfwmiata.net a higher placement due to the high traffic it gets!Originally Posted by mosmiles

Well I can't claim that I made a "tongue in cheek" reply but it was supposed to be humorous. However I guess we could modify the lonestarmiata web page to include lots of metroplex miata adjectives and see what happens.
Seems "my **** is bigger than yours" banter is not limited to the pointy board.

I don't think that sort of attitude is prevalent here at all... I hope you're just kidding.Originally Posted by mosmiles

I sorry if my post offended you… I really know very little about Lonestar Miata. I have only been in Texas 8 months, and found a home here first. While I was testing the referenced search engine, I thought I would also see if it would pull up information on the LoneStar Miata club that I had heard passing reference to. I found it amusing that my search sent me right back here. It was not meant to be a MME is better then LSM post. It does underlines M.M.E.’s web dominance in the Dallas area… the same dominance that brought me here and not there when I moved to Dallas, but this really says nothing about the groups as a whole. I hope that it don't drive you away from this board, as the more Miata fans we can attract, the better the experience is for all of us.Originally Posted by mosmiles

M.M.E. has the two words <lonestar> and <miata> in the mission statement (and I assume the web registration) so it is not surprising that M.M.E. would return very high in the order on any search.
M.M.E is a very entertaining site that I visit quite often. I've even learned a few things here. There is no question that in terms of web dominance locally it is way ahead. Since I don't Autocross, work on cars anymore and have seen many birthdays I will never get to know most of the members here. That is the one advantage of LSMC in that you have to get to know the members to enjoy the benefits of the club. I can enjoy M.M.E. as a non-participant, I have to get involved with LSMC.

DFW is a huge area and there's more than enough room for both clubs (and a few hundred others) to co-exist.IMHO, LSMC and MME both have their own following and purpose, and willl continue to do so.
This is no way intended to start a row... but I disagree with your comment. If anything, to fully enjoy MME, one has to personally interact with the members.Originally Posted by mosmiles
Heck, what may seem as indifferent or off-handed comment to a by-stander are just light hearted jabs amongst friends... friends only made through personal relationships.
We all have our benefits... and our detractions.
