Thread: Keeping my powder dry?

    Default Keeping my powder dry?

I sorta remember a rain gear thread awhile back, suggesting Bass Pro Shop or other sporting goods stores, but cannot find it.. So, help me decide on some wet weather gear please. What works, what to avoid, and mostly, how in the hell does one keep their feet dry?

Spoonfed links to Amazon preferred and appreciated (gift card at hand).

Of course, once I obtain the good stuff, it will never rain at an auto-x ever again. You can thank me now.

In warm weather, it's easier to just wear sandals (except when driving) and let your feet get wet. Water shoes are another option there.

In cold weather, you can try waterproof socks. Others use plastic bags around there socks before putting their shoes on. We have boots that we wear.

I found some neoprene socks at a feed store in McKinney. They work great for wet, cold weather. Your feet still get wet, but they stay warm.

I have a pair of super-ventilated running shoes I wear with thin socks and just let my feet be wet, then switch to my nice dry socks/shoes for driving and after the event. Typically works fine. If its cold, I bring my waterproof hiking boots.

I have a rain suit that I got when I was riding bicycles. You might look at Bike Nashbar and Performance Bicycle

For my feet, I have a pair of rubber shoes from Bass Pro Shop, similar to these.

In the summer you could just wear shower shoes and a light coat of oil.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Frogg Togg worked wonders for me at Nats last year.

Still need to get footwear that works though.

When I was a young lad growing up in OK, my mother would fasten plastic bread sacks to my feet so I could play in the snow. :)
