I think the best approach might be to A/B as many components as possible from a similar NA side-by-side. Go grab JJ's car and park it next to yours, then start swapping easy-to-remove components.

^Yep, probably a good plan...all the 1.6's will be at the Pro Solo this coming weekend.

They aren't fancy. Still OEM's that were supposedly rebuilt and flow-matched.

Looks like the expression JJ makes at a pie shop.

It's worth a shot. I think I kept the old injectors. If so, I'll swap them in and see. Maybe an injector shorted-out in the steam bath? Is that possible?

Doubtful but here is an easy way to check if its firing without having to tear the car apart. Keep in mind it may fire but still have an issue.

    ^The sputtering/bogging never happens while it's just idling...always under a load.

If you can't find your injectors, I can scare up a set from one of my 1.6 motors.

On a lark did you check the accordian hose btw th afm & throttle body for cracks?
That will make a 1.6 run all kinds of terrible. I also have coils, sensors, injectors & ecus in my spares collection if you wnt to borrow.

I also have a known-good accordion elbow. That will definitely give the symptoms described.

^I did replace that accordion piece last year, but didn't check it lately...but I will now. Thanks Steve, I may take you up on your spares for testing.
