Default Need a Roll Hoop Installed

Hello all, I am new to this board and soon-to-be new to the DFW area.

I currently live in Orange County, CA and was planning to get a Blackbird Fabworx GT3 roll hoop installed in my NB.

Alas, we are moving to McKinney at the end of the month and I will not have time to get the GT3 installed prior to leaving.

So, I am looking for a shop that is very familiar with the Miata to do the install. Any recommendations are appreciated.

    TIA,
    Run

I've never heard of the Blackbird Fabworx GT3, how does it compare to a Hard Dog roll-bar? (Price and ergonomics)

It's a nice roll bar. One of the Kelllers regulars has one, powder coated in tan to match his BRG interior. Similar to HDHC.

IMO it's a better product - the welds, geometry and resulting structural integrity seem to be superior to any other off-the-shelf bar. They are fairly common around here, so my bias may stem from familiarity as well?

When I priced the bar last year it was $768. No shipping because I was going to get it installed at their shop.

Yeah, they'll PC the bar any color you like except for black. And I really want black!

Maybe. If I'm going to do it once, I'm going to do it right though.

It sure looks heavy and over engineered to me.

I am getting back into DEs. If my car was strictly street I would agree with your comment.

Where in McKinney? I've got a Blackbird Fabworx Single diagonal bar, installed with the help of a buddy on a Sunday afternoon.

The single-diagonal weighs 38 lbs. See below

Initially we'll be near Eldorado Country Club. Sounds uber hoity toity, yeah? Where in McKinney are you? After the move and once the dust settles it would be cool to connect with some local Miata folks. I'll shoot you a PM at some point in the near future.

So, my time constraints, comments from some on this thread, and a brief convo with Moti at BBFW, I went with a single-diagonal a la 'blackzx3'. It's getting installed on 7/23, less than a week before she gets towed east.

Thanks for the interest, observations, recommendations, and consideration. So far I really dig this board - I didn't like miata.net very much (it may have been me and not them though).

It's going to be a little tough to see out the review mirror with that one.

Yup! Welcome to Texas. Around here we are TCB and speak our minds! I like to PM you with a car registration/smog test question in Ca, but your PM is not working yet.

I'm in the North West corner, Custer and Virginia. The "local Miata folks" are a great group of guys. Welcome to Texas, what brings you out here?
