Laps For Charity event at Texas Motor Speedway this Saturday

This was a fun event last year. This year, in addition to the opportunity to drive on the track, there will be live music, a car show, and food trucks. This is obviously not a "track day" but it is loads of fun nevertheless. Driving fast on the high banked turns is a crazy experience. The Speedway Children's Charity is the official charity of Texas Motor Speedway which generously donates the track and support staff for the event so there is very low overhead. All of the money the charity raises is distributed locally to help children with educational, financial, social and medical needs.

Texas Motor Speedway opens up the track on September 5, 2015 to the public! Experience the thrill of driving your personal vehicle around the 1.5-mile speedway oval, all to benefit Speedway Children’s Charities at Texas Motor Speedway.
For $40 you can take 3 laps around the track, get your picture taken in Victory Lane, and then go enjoy our car show, live music, food and beverages! Price will increase to $50 at the door and additional sets of laps are $30 each. Gates at the South Tunnel open at 5:00 pm and the event concludes at 10:00 pm. Won't be able to make this this Saturday, but we have been in the past. Fun event.

Wow inflation sucks. I did it twice about 12 years ago for $25 for 3 laps. Yes, very fun event.
