According to the back story, the fella didn't have an extinguisher in the car... it was only after a few minutes that a friend drove up with one in his car that they attempted to put the flames out. If it's true, then it's quite amazing as to how quickly the fire spread.

I've made it a habit of always carrying an extinguisher with me. There's one in the trunk of my '03... and I've carried one in my other Miatas as well as my Jeeps.

I too thought it was strange. But then again, if your in a friends car on a fun run or something, and your taping it when the fire broke out, you might keep the camera rolling, at least if there was nothing you could do to stop it.
