I feel your pain. Luckily I caught the bastards in the act and they meet Mr.Mossberg shotgun til police came! Some meth heads went around the neighborhood ripping off cars and some tool sheds. Friend and I came home around 3 am and I went to move the Miata and there was someone in it ripping the guage cluster out! No real damage to my car but my friends Vette got $3000 in interior damage!

I have a decent top but is black and needs window.

Yeah, stupid criminals. A friend had a 911 cabrio and kept having so many problems that he had to start leaving the windows down and put anything valuble in the trunk to a avoid slashed top.

Yea it would need to at least have the aura of value before you'd need to be concerned!

Is it true people actually throw change into the BUR?

How the hell do you think I pay for gas?

Now with the wheels there's a bit more added value!!

Thanks for the offers for the tops guys. I am leaning towards buying a new top from cabrioword, & Jolberry has offered the use of his hard top untill I get this all sorted out.

What do I need to make an NB top fit an NA, anything besides the strikers??

While filing the police report I found a whole slew of good prints along the top of the passenger window & the windshield frame, & a footprint...on the damn trunk So I am currently waiting on the fingerprint crew to get here.

all of the little light bulbs for the interior lights! that's what those stupid meth heads did to my buddies Vette, ripping the whole interior apart in the process ...nothing else to steal in it anyways

Don't even need the strickers as they're the same until very recently, MY04 IIRC.

The top and frame bolts right in and the NB have more durable rubber rain rails instead of the crappy plastic ones of the NA. I love my M2 top. :afro:

Guess I'll throw my old top on flea-Bay.

If you decide to trash it let me know... I'm looking for the first front spar of the top. Specifically, the piece that mates with the headliner.

Black roadster...I may still take you up on the top. I have been considering the possibilities of this happening again to a brand new top, since school will be out for summer & kids will be getting bored, then I will be in the same boat again, but with a month old top. I am thinking of throwing a cheapo top on there, & maybee getting a hard top for winter, my wife wouldnt mind a black top, so I dont either. Give me a day or 2 to mull it over, ill let you know.

I should have clarified in my previous post, I was asking if an NB hardtop would fit an NA without modifications. What would be necessary for this??

The only differences between hardtops from various years are headliners (first tops didn't have them) and window defrosters (first year or two didn't have them, later tops changed plugs every few years).

Yeah, it will. From 1990-2005, the hard tops are all interchangeable.

Jiggerachi, if you're concerned about this happening again, I would suggest you contact your insurance agent and discuss what it would cost you to drastically lower your comprehensive coverage deductible. When my Miata became my daily driver, I lowered our comp. deductible from $500 to $100, mostly because of the possibility of having the top slashed or vandalized. It cost me an additional $25 over six months to make the change in the policy, which I figured was a small price to pay.

Had the top slashed on my 97, borrowed a friends red and white stripped hard top till my '01 top came in. The NB tops swap real easy, and are so much nicer. Luckly I had an outrageously expensive stereo in the car to cover the difference in the tops. Insurance payed out good on it (state farm with a $250 deductable)

    New "used" top installed!

The black top looks good on a B&T Miata.
