She's got 'em scared, too... They're complaining about her "unfair" weight advantage.
I always wondered who she was when she was on Power Block on Sunday Morning.... now I know. A 100lb indy driver....

Rahal Racing caused quite the stir when they first picked her up a couple of years ago... she's finally been on the upswing with her finishes. Everyone accused them of doing it as purely a publicity stunt... and I can't say I blame them if they did! She's quite the looker!
One can't help but notice the look of determination in that young lady's face.
I would'nt say she's got "balls", although that's what it takes to race at those speeds.
She's HOT! Even if she's about the same age as my daughter..........!!
Awkward moment... Do they still kiss the trophy girl?
It would be nice if the press provided info about her racing track success. Until a couple of weeks ago I never heard of her. It might be I just don't keep up with IRL?

She's a lot more than just a PR stunt. I'd love to see her win Indy today, but I think Kanaan will take it again.

I think she is ok, but I am tired of hearing about it. I remember in 93, the reigning F1 champ Nigel Mansell came over. He wasnt on Good Morning america before indy. He had what I think is a much better chance of winning. He had certianly accomplished something in his career. Sorry but a third place in a watered down ladder series isnt too impressive. She can obviously drive, I am not saying she cant. But I am tired of the hype.
Disclaimer: I am also very unhappy with what Tony George has done to American open wheel racing. So that might lead to some bias.
I'm sorry, did somebody say something?![]()

She did ok. A lot better than any of us would do. It would be interesting to know how much fuel she had left in the tank at the end.
I'd guess not enough to crank the motor since it appeared she dropped from 2nd to 4th because of fuel starvation...Originally Posted by general default

She's also a past World Karting Association champion, and she's the highest finishing American (2nd place) in the European Formula Ford series ever.Originally Posted by Majik
Doesn't sound like hype to me? Let's not forget that she's an IRL rookie. For a rookie in IRL, she's got a pretty impressive resume, regardless of her sex.
Besides, she can now add 4th place finish at Indy 500 to her resume.![]()

If you are not living on the edge ...
you're taking up too much space!
The hype annoys me as well, particularly when IRL has had a woman driver before... remember Sarah Fisher? From listening to the drivel that the announcers were yakking up all during the Indy, you'd think that Danika was the first woman to ever pilot an automobile.![]()
On the other hand, I think Danika may be the "real deal". Ms. Fisher has/had a reputation for some squirrelly driving, and nobody wanted to be near her car in a turn. Danika drove pretty smoothly, and even made a couple of daring and well executed passes. To have lead the pack that late in the race was pretty astounding, and says something about her abilities. And the fact that she's... ah,er,um... easy on the eyes... is a nice bonus.![]()
Is this a marketing ploy? Sure it is, but so what? A hot chic will grab the guy’s attention. A female driver might pull in some women spectators that otherwise couldn't give a rip. And real race fans will welcome another strong driving talent... if Indy wasn't a fluke and she turns out to be as good as she was during that race.

By the way, if she wants to be taken seriously, she's gonna have to stop taking the T&A pictures. The ones that are out there already are going to be hard for her to "live down" as a race car driver. She needs to step up the "class rating" a notch.
Not that I'm complaining about the T&A shots...![]()

However, I think the fact that she qualified so near the front was the draw. Heck, I never even saw the t & a photos till they were published on this site... Of course, I generally don't surf around for t & a stuff...
