If it's a 1990 then it's got the shortnose crank. It's 1991 where later cars were corrected.

This one's not pretty, but it avoids the crank problem:

well I have thoroughly looked at and driven the car and I can say at least it has good tires. The motor hesitated from idle up to about 3k. It had a 45 mph shimmy, and It sounded like crap(due to a fart can). It had a crappy APC red steering wheel on it, and the horn button flew up at my face when I hit it. The actual horn button was a DOORBELL switch screwed onto the dash. The trunk was full of trash, and it needed new brakes. The radiator was so corroded it wasnt even funny. The carlot was about as trashy. The sales person brought me the keys and then went back inside and I didnt see him again until I left. (mabye not a bad thing). He also told me he had like 5 calls a day on it, and a collector from arkansas was looking at it because 90 was the first year for miatas. anyway It was junk and he would not go below 2k for it. Oh well.
