Default The Wife / The MX-5

Why everytime that I let my wife drive the Miata, it comes back in some altered state of mechanical working order.
Does anyone else have this problem, I mean aside from the fact that there is usually some sort of food container and napkins in the car from wherever she ate lunch that day the car seems to be missing or something.
And this seems to be almost every time...lol
The car was wrecked and re-built when I bought it, so maybe a chick had it and died in the accident and does not like other women driving her car.
This makes just about as much sense as anything else....lol
    Just a curiousity.

So what has she done to it?

My wife takes great care of her Miata, never have had any issues! And on the occasions she has used my Miata it has always came back just as good as it was before!

well to hear her tell the story she has done nothing to it except drive it to work and to lunch and back home, but no kidding there seems to be something a miss everytime or almost everytime she brings it back.
And she has a bad habit of driving it to close and sometimes even over the yellow concrete blocks in parking spaces.
I dont care much about that now since the front end isnt even the same year as the car and I am eventually going to replace it with the OEM front end.
But I am trying to break her of the habbit before I get the new one.
I think just things that would have happened anyway happen when she is driving the car for whatever reason.

Maybe you shouldn't let your wife drive the car if she can't take care of it!

Maybe she shouldn't drink all that cough-syrup before you hand her the keys.

You might want to re-think this. All of the aftermarket bumpers are fiberglass and are not as resilient as the OEM plastic bumper. You will destroy a fiberglass bumper in no time by pulling up too far into parking spaces. Ever notice how half the Honda show cars on the road have a cracked/broken bumper?

Perhaps we'd be better off if you taught her how to drive stick!! You'd be patient... I wouldn't!

What I am trying to say is that I intend on replacing it with factory parts, unless you are saying that the factory aftermarket parts are fiberglass.
In that case I guess I will just overpaint the one I have now.

Sorry... I just went back and re-read your post... I thought you said replace the OEM but you said replace it with the OEM... my bad... OEM bumpers are plenty strong.

Be careful what you rant and rave about on this site, Billy. There are more than a few owners, spouses, and girlfriends on this forum that might have something to say about your statements........ :bad boy:

Billy, I don't think the problem is with the Miata. It sounds like the problem is with your wife's driving.

That doesn't bother in the slightest... ( I know I've done it enough!) But it's a fact that spouses are lousy teachers when it comes to driving.

Or is it that you'd really like a SEAT and a SEAT BELT to use on the passenger side when trying to teach her to drive?

I've had both seats in for a long while now...

Although she still won't ride with me...
