It's a whole other subject, but around where I live apparently there is no DSL service. ComCast cable internet... but no DSL.

You beat me to the split... thanks POS.

Last I checked the SBC website (this afternoon) I entered my phone number and it came up a negative. Perhaps it's info is outdated?

I am green with envy, when I lived in Ft Worth I had a switching terminal about 10 Ft from my apartment and had screaming fast DSL now I am in the sticks and the only thing available is 28.8 on a good day, no DSL, no Cable, only dial-up and satellite.

I think SBC DSL has the TCB deal of $14.99 a month! Out here we only have Verizon, They are giving me the fiber optic DSL tomorrow for the same price of $29.99. I hope it will worth the $.

I just swapped to Cable from DSL. Comcast had a 19.99/month for six month deal. They are about the same really.

So who supplies your local phone service??? Seems as if the automated deal doesn’t think you are an SBC customer!

We're with AT&T for phone service... even though SBC owns the lines. Seems to be really convoluted.

That would explain why your phone number isn't in the SWB database. I'll bet if you give them a call and give them your physical address, you might get a better answer.

This is true. If SBC owns your lines, chances are very good that they have service. OTOH, take whatever's cheap and available -- cable, DSL, fiber, whatever!
