    Default Germany....

Hi . I'm headed to Germany for a week in June and was wondering if anyknew if renting a car would be difficult there? Just for a day or two since the rest I would be bussed around.

Or do you know anyone there who would be willing to let me take their car out on the Autobahn?

I tried the German website, but um. it's hard to understand.

Check out the "affordable Europe" program at www.hertz.com

    They do rentals in Europe.

Better check with your insurance company to see if they would even cover you overseas... you'd probably be better off just buying the rental insurance to avoid any hassles if you have an accident.

Check into a International Driver's License, should be easy to get.

Go visit The Factory in Stugart for me, and take some pics. MMM

greetings! i rented a car but got a mercedes a class. like a smart car but bigger. seen plenty of miatas around and had some excellent weather earlier in the week so saw plenty of tops down.

cant visit the bmw factory nor museum becuz it is closed during june or something. what a shame.

visited salzburg and some car race was going on. does anyone know about this...
lots of classic old porsches, ferraris, mercedes, etc... i got pictures but will post them when i get back. it was a sight to see. then they had a little race around the river although no one was wearing helmets nor safety belts.

    tis all for now.

The A Class is kinda cool, isn't it? I had one a while back when my wife and I were driving across Ireland.

I wish I'd seen this post earlier. Screw the autobahn - I would have recommended you try to check out the Nordschleife, the section of the Nurburgring (one of the longest and most famous race courses in Europe) that is open to anyone for driving pretty regularly.

where is the Nordschleife, what country..

we rented a 318 yesterday to visit the neusheststein(butchering the name here) castle (disney is modeled after). nice windy curvy narrow roads. got the car up to 207 km-hr. pretty fun on the curves cept for the danger of other oncoming cars.

    off to Paris tonight!

Neuschwanstein, and I think they are used to folks "butchering" the name. But if you visited that area, you were in some of the most beautiful parts of Germany! And Salzburg is one of my favorite cities...

Man, I'm jealous. I haven't been back to Germany since 2000. Anyone up for a lederhosen run? Now where is that bridge to Germany from the States...
