Thread: My Garage Will Soon Be Cool

Default My Garage Will Soon Be Cool

Yes, kids, Autumn is here, and that means the temperature will soon be falling. Which, in turn, means that we will all soon be able to work comfortably in our garages again.

    Yup, it's Miata Project Season!

I'm thinking some light fettling is in order this year. Maybe a cat-back exhaust and FM mid-pipe, or a cowl intake duct, or adding Sirius satellite radio. I also keep wishing the stock tires would die (I know, more track days), but that's not really a "project."

    What's on your to-do list?

Pull the roll bar, air-conditioning, and modify the receiver hitch to make it semi-quick release.

My car is going on a diet this winter.

Hey Sammm, I never use my cruise control...maybe we can Horse Trade.

I plan to flush the brake system and fill with new fluid (even though at this point I have no idea how to go about it)

Would also like to start saving for the new Clutch and have that installed this year.

Lots on my to do list.

Swap the carpet (pulling the dash)
Replace door panels with my JayDeeEm black door panals with LE speaker grills
    Redye my seats
    Repaint my calipers
    Swap Intake systems
Cut and install my rear-quarter interior panals
Find and install a more powerful trunk gas-strut
Find out why my trunk is leaking
Figure out some way to replace my side markers

The list keeps growing. I haven't done anything except oil changes for 6-9 mos?
    ...and across the line.

Because it's 55 pounds of high-Cg dead weight.

Actually, I figure between the bar, the a/c, the hitch, and some lighter wheels, I ought to be able to legally shave over 100 pounds off the car. My plan is to keep the bar, have the nuts welded to the backing plates so that I can reinstall the bar a little quicker than I can currently, and just put it back in the car for track days only.

Add that to the ~20 pounds the driver intends to lose this off season, and we're talking a significantly faster car next season.

Though I don't think he knows this yet...
I'm afraid an increase in power like that could be a fatal shock to the BUR's system. Kinda like grandma on cocaine... not a pretty site!
