Thread: Whats the fastest youve driven or ridden?

Default Whats the fastest youve driven or ridden?

just wunderin? lets here some stories.

i drove a 99 trans-am at about 160 before it shut down. the speedo goes to 155 and it was buried. i was passing cars on the highway like they were...you get the point. i cant imagine what it looked like to them, they were already doing 60, and a screaming red blur goes flying by 100mph faster. that was really stupid looking back at it. it was about 2am on 75N heading towards McKinney.

lets not turn this into a discussion about safety. weve all done unsafe things before. and who doesnt like going fast??

Moderhater moment: DFWMiata.com does not condone irresponsible and reckless behavior on public roads. Kill stories will be deleted. We suggest you take it to the track.

    Well....

In the US, I had my 92 B&T up to 110mph for about 20 minutes on the way back from OKC once... But, I had a nice SSR running about 1/4 mile in front as bear bait. Left the north end of OKC during rush hour, stopped for gas & bio on the way back and still made it to my house in 2:22:00 (194 mile trip) - It was kinda scary running that long at 5500rpm, but the car performed flawlessly and didn't use a drop of oil.

I've done 120mph on the Autobahn in my Uncle's (in-Law) Mazda 626. I could've gone faster but he had snow tires on the car and that was their speed limit. The scary part was being in the fast lane and seeing blinking lights behind me on the horizon and no sooner than I pulled over a lane a silver Audi went by as a BLUR - he was haulin' a$$!

Fastest as a passenger was 135 in my best friend's '68 Mustang GT Convertable out Strawberry Road in Rockville, IN... It's a NICE long straight that ends in a SHARP right angle turn. It was commonly used for drag races, but you had to time it right so you were doing it between police patrol times.

I think this is a good place to mention multiple sightings of an officer standing against a telephone pole on Marsh just north of George Bush with a radar gun in hand. There was 2 bikes and a patrol car 100 feet behind him down the side road. I have seen him there twice in the last week and didn't notice him until it was too late. I am lucky that he was only a block down from my street, so I was just about up to the the speed limit by the time I spotted him.

I hit an indicated 130mph in my old civic before I let off(the 5spd's dont have governors), took about 5 minutes to get there from 70, but she did it.

This was at 1am on Highway 14 between Thornton & Mexia...if anyone knows where that is(50+ miles of straight road with a few towns about 10 - 15 miles apart).

You certainly didn't have to worry about traffic on that road. Back in 1990 I eased my 300ZX up to 137 on that stretch, with my daughter asleep in the passenger seat. Just as smooth and stable as 80 :)

Fastest, though was my 74 Corvette 454.....144 on NW I-820 before it was open, west of I35W. There was a time that every car I've had had seen it's terminal velocity..........1.6 Miatas - 116, 1.8 Miatas - 122, MazdaSpeed Protege - 134. Showroom Stock Miata at Daytona, in a draft - 130, Spec Miata at TMS w/restrictor and a couple of nice bumps - 128. Oh, and the very first one: 1950 Ford pickup with a 50HP flathead six - 70mph, downhill!!!!!

The fastest I ever had the '80 Dodge Chalenger(Mitsubishi import) was 85 MPH plus 1000 RPM beteen the Texas state line and OKC while following two red Porsches. I don't have a clue because the speedo only went to 85 MPH.

The 95 T-bird hit 120 MPH before I decided I had better slow down.

The 05 MSM hit 100 MPH in 5th while passing a pair of mobile homes on a two lane stretch.

Fear not, citizen. A 6.6 is also known as a 400. The 455 is 7.5L
