In his thread about plugwires ain cold weather, David Chrisford mentioned he gets 30+ MPG on his NB. I don't get anywhere near 30 MPG.
It got me to thinking what MPG does everyone else get? Were talking daily driving, not performance driving.
Answer these questions.
1. What is your average MPG?
2. Year of Miata?
3. Boosted ot Normally Aspirated?
4. Fuel used? Brand and type of gas
5. Type of driving? Mostly highway or mostly surface streets?
6. Style of driving? Efficent/Spirited/Aggressive

5:Mostly surface streets, about 3min of my 15min drive is on the highway.
6:Efficient with spirited mixed in.
*This is since I started a spread sheet two tanks ago. I have also been very aware of driving slow and not reving since then, because of gas prices. Before I would usually drive fairy spirited, but mainly over 70 to nearly 80 on the interstate. Now I dont go over 65. I also try not to rev over 3500rpm. I would guess my gas mileage before was around 24.
May not help much, but

3. normally aspirated, close to stock
4. 87 octane regular unleaded. Typically from RaceTrac or Chevron, although I've been know to buy off brand gas to save a buck or two
5. 50/50 mix of 80mph freeway cruising and spirited surface street driving
6. spirited/aggressive
I've averaged about 23mpg on almost every tank of gas I've bought for the Miata over the last two years. Autocrossing, no autocrossing, towing the trailer, driving to school, delivering pizzas, top up , top down, a/c, no a/c, whatever.
Most - not all, I'm sure, but most - of people claiming to routinely get 30+mpg out of Miatas are either clueless, dishonest, incapable of performing simple arithmetic, or drive on the freeway at 40mph, based on what I know of how EPA highway mileage figures are derived. Just my humble opinion.

Edit: If I air up my tires to 30psi I would probably get a little better mileage(car says 25psi, thats where their at)

speaking of fuel, if i go anywhere else (which is rare) i try to get a a top tier fuel. my belief is, top tier fuels have the required cleaning additives mandated by the government. chevron has twice as much cleaning additives and vopwer has 5 times..... so that extra dollar i pay per tanks is liike getting one of those fuel system cleaner bottles put in.... plus i think i gives better mpgs anyways...
crap, my last tank (reciept in my pocket dropped to 27.25mpg. am i the only one watching it go down with the weather or is it just me???

It's been difficult to measure fuel consumption at AX's since the distance is so short. I noticed I used nearly a whole tank at the Maverick driving schools where I drove about 100 miles.
