Thread: Saw my first...

    Default Saw my first...

Solstice on the road. I was coming up from behind in traffic. It was red with the back soft top up (weenie). It caught my eye so I pulled up to see what it was. It was larger than I had pictured, so at first I thought it was a Viper conv., or a Panoz. I had to read the badge to figure it out. Looked good, very exotic in person.

Also add to my sightings this weekend, a red and white Ford GT on I-30 in Fort Worth.

I saw an NC Miata the other day, red, top down. Not sure if theyre all over the place yet, but it was the first one ive see on the road(saw/drove them at zoom zoom live) Looked good, smaller than I expected, up against other cars & mine. Tried to wave, but he was turning.

Havent seen any solstices yet though, havent they been out for awhile??

I had the opportunity to sit in a Continental GT a while back. The owner was getting in right as my wife and I were walking by. I complimented him on the color choice (medium silver with deep blue leather and dark wood trim -- gorgeous). He proceeded to let us sit in the interior. What a beautiful car! No test drive, though.

Saw my first solstice the other day on the way to work. It was on the back of one of those 18 wheel transport trucks, it was white. Have to say, they look alot better in real life.

Also saw a VW Paeton(?) in Gainsville. Had to look twice, I thought it was a Passat until I walked up close to it. If I were going to pay that much for a car, it would not look that plain.

+1 the Phaeton looks like a longwheelbase Passat. it is nice though i saw one at a VW dealership and checked it it out.

I would never get past the "$70k VW" in my mind. Too many other cool options.

the price sint a problem for me. its just that the styling is too bland. youd pay 70K for an Audi, but its the pretty much the same thing with a different name.

Except that you won't mistake an S8 for 3Bean's German hooptie in the parking lot.

I saw a pair of Solstices a couple of weeks back while in Bellevue, WA. One was black, the other red. Generally quite attractive, though the rear bumper area looked higher off the ground than I'd expected.
Aside from that one tidbit, or perhaps regardless of it, I'd drive one and be happy to only store 3 cds in the trunk.

Me thinks if I had a Ford GT or even a Maseratti I would just roll my eyes if any Honduh came up and started reving it's motor. Suped up or not, it's still just a Honduh.
