Guys, I am so sorry for ditching you.

My excuse... Saturday morning, 9am my buddy calls to tell me his house burnt down over night. He and the fam are fine but I spent the day boarding up the house and just being there for them.

I do have a fuel filter and some silcon grease in my trunk for next time.

I'm going to see about digging in again this weekend. Both water pump gaskets will be replaced, I'll add a little sealant, and we'll see what happens. For the sake of safety, I'm once again cruising the streets in the ol' wagon...which has a grumpy 4th gear.
Many thanks to everyone who dropped by on Saturday, and HUGE thanks to Mr. Roadster for his uber-generosity and help!

    Default Bummer

Holy cow, that sucks that you have to replace the gaskets. On a good note, the job will go really quickly as you've recently completed it. I will be making all of the same repairs this weekend that I observed last weekend.

    Default Timing Belt

Thanks to all who helped explain things at the Tech Day in McKinney a few weeks ago. My timing belt change went smoothly, except when I broke a water pump bolt! Heck, even that was an easy fix...I didn't even need a drill. However, I have developed a new rattle between 3200-3600rpm. I wonder if it could be one of the timing belt covers? Any thoughts?

I had a rattle around 3500 a while back, well actually it was more of a buzzing noise. It was a heatshield on the pipe right before the cat. converter. I know it's not related to the work that you did, but it's a pretty common problem. Start banging around under the car with a rubber mallet.

A hose clamp fixed my problem. Hopefully yours will be that easily fixed.
