Good luck!!!
First Off I want to thank everyone that came down wrenched on the car checked the pressures, gave feedback and gave suggestions. Sorry there was so much down time before the shoot, but who knew that two cars were going to blow major components in the morning race.
I want to thank Altain for some kickin tires. Your not getting them back!
THANK YOU!!
The competition -
Car #1 Silver 1999 C5 Corvette built for racing on MONSTER Hoosiers
Car #2 Yellow 2006 C6 right off the showroom floor with 1000 miles on the clock running custom wheels sporting 305 Hoosiers
I am not sure what I am supposed to tell and not tell, but all I can say is I Fnnn WON!!! ( I actually slowed down on the final lap to let it look closer and dropped a couple of wheels for drama)
Jeremy from Flyin Miata put the tune on the car and it FLEW. I had enough adreneline to carry the car through the first lap on my back.
Thanks again everyone - Final Race is Decemeber 14th.![]()

Talk about bringing game. I was running 1:29 in qualifying and 1:27s in competition. Prior to yesterday I was probably running 1:31+
I just kept reading over and over MERV's writeup he did a few years ago.
http://www.checkerstripe.com/outlaws/msr/hotlap.htm
That gave me a very good start at hitting the proper braking points and remembering to late apex a few corners.
Thanks MERV!!

Don't forget, I've got a couple more mounted up and ready to go that you're welcome to have for the next race, if you need 'em. I know a couple of the ones on that set were nearing the end of their useful life.
Congratulations!Originally Posted by Screamin'Screw

John, you drove great. You were smooth and consistant. The new vette wanted it bad, but he was all over the track and couldn't catch you because he messed up the corners, you were moving. As for the 99' Vette, he had a lot more there, I guess he just didn't give it all he could, he looked slow, and we thought he was sandbaggin' but he never did start to catch you guys, too much handicap for the driver to overcome.
It was a tv production but once they started to flow the races were fun to watch.
Enjoyed it and had fun. Thanks!![]()

Awsum job, what a blow to the Corvette guys. BTW, are you willing to help a brother out with some tips on the tuning they did? Would you be willing to send me some datalogs and/or zone settings they did?
'08 Copper Red GT PRHT, '06 Accord EXL, '05 Dodge Magnum R/T, '01 V8 Dakota for pulling 2135 Chaparral.
No real secrets. Jeremy used an older MAP he used to configure another 1.6L. We then zoned in the idle fuel and confirmed WOT on the Dyno. We needed to make sure we were not getting knock at higher boost pressures.
We also kind of confirmed that I have an electrical problem because the Fuel requirements were jumping all over the place. Probably ground related.
I can provide you maps, but I am not sure they are going to be much help. The real key for me was getting a nice, smooth base MAP and then confirming I was not going to blow the motor.
We had such GREAT temps on track for the Turbo. Cool Air 62 degrees with the sun heating the track to about 73 degrees. The turbo was just eating it up.
We also switched to manual boost controller for more stable consistant boost. Several people mentioned they can never get the 1.6L Link Electronic Boost controler to work right. Jeremy did not seem shocked. He said the 1.8L has not had any problems, but there have been some problems with the 1.6L
We kept everything pretty conservative snce this is a daily driver and track car.

Looks like I need a manual boost controller too. Mine has been inconsistant too. I wish Jeremy had more time to check to out my car too, but that was not what he was here for.
Maybe we should drive each others car sometime to make a butt comparison.
A torsen or LSD should be your next modification.

A Link is on my wish list for a spring purchase. I wonder if we could get enough DFW Link owners together to make it worth while to pay Jeremy, Bill, or Kieth to come down for a weekend tuning session?Originally Posted by Sharpie
