Default Win the Lottery, keep the job?

    These people did!

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10067988/

I'd be gone and likely without telling anyone at work the reason. I'd grab the wife and kids, head to Austin to collect my winnings then hire a financial planning firm and lawyer.

We'd move to an undisclosed new address in a gated community and take care of our families. (No Joe-Schmos off the street) We would of course give substantially to a wide range of charities, travel and I'd get a barn to store my collection of cars somwhere in Cresson, near the Ranch.
    ...and across the line.

Agreed... That's the way to do it!

Though I'd have to spend my new found fortune with a new 13B for the FC, a '96 era FD in Sunburst Yellow, and probably a ton of NB goodies.

Somehow waiting tables looses its appeal when you dont need the money. I guess I would quit too!

Ive thought about this a few times, & if I hadnt of gotten laid off last week I probably would have stayed around, just for the experience. I guess now its the time to win the lottery, haha...

Depending on where I was working at the time I probably would quit & go back to school...& travel.

They stopped importing FDs officially in '95, although there are a couple of '95s registered stateside as '96s. Or were you thinking of a JDM FD?

If I won the lottery? Eventually, I'd quit my job, depending on exactly how much I won (I can honestly say I'd want to net about $5 million after taxes minimum for the investment income to be enough to retire comfortably on, without eating into the principal every year), but not right now. I really enjoy my job.

Yeah, I'd do a little car shopping, but probably nothing ridiculously extravagant - I'd much rather buy half a dozen $50k cars than one $300k Lamborghini or Bentley. I would definitely splurge on a Radical, a nice F-350 crew cab dualie for towing, an enclosed trailer, and a '63 split-window 327 fuelie Corvette, with the 4-speed and factory a/c. In dark green.

I'd probably build a place with land here in Texas as a primary residence, but I'd also want to build homes in Kauai and near my in-laws in Winter Park. Nothing fancy, just vacation cottages.

I would cut out of here so fast and buy an Island in someplace that has no Political BS, under nobody's jurisdiction...then likely build on the highest point that overlooks the Island for myself and bring out my Family to build there.
    or
Find someplace so remote that nobody would want to come or better yet couldn't come without some huge financial means.
and if I was working I would quit without question, but this is all due to how much would actually be won, and how much you would have after the G'men took their 40% of your winnings.

I've done the "what if" so many times, I'm not even going there..... I'm just pouring all the money I can into my 401K so I can retire and get to enjoy life for awhile. Money isn't everything!

id get a lawyer first, create a company name, then sign and cash the ticket. you get less taxes taken out.

yes, i guess i HAVE thought about it....

id live near deals gap, and have a few more houses here and there. i really dont see my house any more than $250k since i still think those are HUGE. (well, for me anyways) if it does top that, its because of the 10 bay heated and a/c'd garage. idprolly build every miata i want, and have a wide variety of 2 seat roadsters.

depending on how much i win, my most expensive car, hmm, maybe just a rental, would be the ferarri super america or the murcielargo roadster... hell, i dont think i even spelt that right!

altiain: Yes, I was thinking JDM FD's. My infatuation with Sunburst Yellow is almost a borderline obsession.

    Default monster garage

it would be awesome to invest in a tv show, kind of like monster garage, except produced in dallas and do all sorts of convertions to import cars. That way your money still keeps pouring so you dont depend just on lotto money itself... hmm thats what i'd do...
I'll probably do it even though i don't win the lotto, but that'll happen when i get my own video equipment.
