What the hell does "reset my rpm's" mean?

Maybe he means set the idle?

Well today I unhooked the battery terminal to see if the Check Engine light would go off, and it did so I am going to see if it comes back on...if so I will take it to AutoZone to get the code read.
It seems to run the same as before I got the code so I doubt it's anything serious but I could be wrong...I will keep it close to home til I see if the code comes back.
Thanks for the advice I didn't know AutoZone would read the code for free.

The light is going to go off if you reset the battery. The problem with that is that you dont know what it was. I would assume it will come back but be sure to get it read so we can figure it out.

The computer systems will now have to go thru 5 or 6 drive 'cycles'. Odds are it will come back on. Get it read next time it does.

Does it count a drive cycle for every time the engine is started or how exactly does that work?

A mixture of mileage and engine starts and stops.

yeah i meant the idle... you do the ground 10 and get the rpm's up to about 8500 and disconect the ground 10... lol...

Not to be a stickler again, but you mean 850 right? 8500 Would be a rather high idle.

Well, I have been driving all over the place and the light has not come back on...I wish I would have gotten the code read now dangit.
Lesson learned.

Or it was the gas cap and now it is gone. Either way like Sammm said, if it is a true problem it will be back.
