Default Hill Country Run in Feb?

I would be willing to plan a Hill Country drive in February if anyone is interested. It can be a Saturday and/or Sunday with dinner and a no name motel reserved if it is an overnight. I have several routes already layed out. Whaddya think? Dates available are 4/5, 11/12 or 26/27.

I am open on the last weekend of Feb. just got to double check with the boss. It would be cool to make an all-nighter out of it. I have a feeling winter wil be coming late this year, if it comes at all.

    More than a cruise.

It's the Texas Hill Country located roughly between Austin and San Antonio. Fredricksburg, Llano and Kerrville area. Best roads in Texas! Just watch out for the Po-Po. They're waiting for you.

Well, TtT, we just did that last week No way the bride is going back this soon.
If you go to Marble Falls, hit the Bluebonnet Cafe. Great food and pie you won't believe - or so I've heard. They were closed for the holidays when we were there.
The roads were awesome in a Sport Track, and I was really missing the Miata. Have fun.

I may get permission to go for a weekend depending on the time. My baby momma will be 7 mo. pregnant and will obviously not be joining us.

Are you thinking a Sat AM departure and Sun night return?

Sat am and Sun afternoon return OR an extended day on Saturday. It would be nice to hit some less traveled roads without pressure of time if it's an overnighter.

If your anywhere near Fredericksburg or Llano, you've got to stop by Enchanted Rock for at least a few hours. Probably the best camping I've ever done in Texas. Check it out:

There are terrific roads down there. I have a 225 mile route from Kerrvile to Leakey, Camp Wood, and back that is mostly twisty Miata roads. This has been a staple run during the Miata Roundup each fall. Merv has led this run a time or two. Most of it is very fast, and VERY light traffic.

It's among my favorite roads, maybe even edging out Deals Gap. 225 miles, no repeats, no 18 wheelers, NO RV's.

Lot's of decent hotels in Kerreville, of every price range, same for eateries, and a handful of decent watering holes.

Don't know if I can make the run, but contact me by email and I'll send you the route.

BTW, the closest thing to a fun route down is US 67 to Comanche then TX 16 all the way down. All 2 lane, some sweepers, a few twisties, lot's interesting small towns, very few DPS.

It's just a big rock! LSMC did it about ten years ago as part of one of our Hill Country runs. Not nearly as exciting as the DRIVING........
