Thread: Cat-back exhaust

    Default Cat-back exhaust

What is a good(for the price, college budget here ) catback system? I'm not even sure which exhausts out there are catback to be honest. So far I have had my eye on the Racing Beat single tip from good-win-racing (http://www.good-win-racing.com/mazda/miata/11-1007.html ). But I'm not sure if they just mean the muffler, or the whole shabang. Any answers are appreciated

'99+ cars will actually have more of an axle-back exhaust, since the piping downstream of the catalytic converter is welded in. There is a flange near the rear axle, and it is from this flange back that most bolt-on '99+ exhaust systems will connect.

I'm a big fan of the Enthuza systems myself. Light, good sound, and relatively inexpensive.

Enthuza M2 is what I have. I get compliments all the time. It has a mellow, deeper sound than most -- pretty much old school, but so am I

While I'm sure I'm in the minority... I really liked my Racing Beat Duals... nice tone without being ricey...

Also, I have a near mint '04 stock exhaust that I'd be willing to donate to someone if there is a need for one. It's just taking up precious garage space at the moment.

Ditto, but mine is for an NA so it includes a midpipe that bolts in between the cat and the muffler.

Just put a RB single tip exhaust on my '00. Quality is outstanding and it's not too loud (unlike my old FM Duals that got blown out after 4 years).

For $256 its well worth it.

Awesome that's exactly what I am looking for. I don't want it to be too loud becuase I plan to get headers eventually(maybe around summer break, not sure yet) which will make it a good bit louder, but I want the exhaust flow to match my intake. Also does anyone know the weights of these exhausts?

Not sure on the actual weights, but the OEM muffler is pretty heavy. I know that the Racing Beat Dual exhaust is lighter than OEM, and I would have to assume that the single tip RB is even lighter.

If you are interested in the Duals, Racing Beat has a couple with blemishes in there Bargain Bin for a discount.

IIRC, that kid...what was his name...Cheese something or other...installed the single-tip RB and it wasn't much lighter than OEM.

Yep, the RB is lighter than stock (supposedly) but not by much. I believe that the Borla is lightest non-custom option out there if you are looking to save weight.

Saving weight is always nice but it's not my main concern(not doing spec yet lol). I just wanted to make sure I wasn't adding weight.

Ooh, thats tempting for that price. With shipping it comes out to like $235 or something, which isn't bad at all.

Is R-Speed a good seller? I'm also concerned about shipping times since I'm going to be going back to school next Monday, I'm not sure where I should ship it to.

R-speed is a reputable seller that has a huge Miata open house every year. When I was in FL everybody used to caravan up to Atlanta for their open house.

I would ship it to school if you're going to be back there on Monday.
