We all finished in the same places after today's runs, except rat_finkel, who slipped to 3rd. Altiain ,Rat_finkel and spinout500 trophied. I stayed for the trophy presentation. So, altiain I have your trophy. I'll bring it to the next event.

    Sweet! Thanks Doug.

We had a blast. I ended up moving up one spot today to 6th, which was the final trophy spot in C Stock. Jon was about 2/10ths back from me (he was faster than me today by four hundredths, but I had a ~3/10ths lead on him from yesterday) in 8th (?). Disimo and Herron were flying - Disimo coned away the event on his first run yesterday, which would have given him over a second lead on the rest of the class. I thought my event was going to be a washout, as I DNF'ed my first run on Saturday (brain fart) and coned my second (pushing too hard). I slowed up a couple of tenths to get a clean run, and was eighteen thousandths out of the trophies at the end of the day. Today everything worked out pretty well, except for a gimme cone on my 2nd run. Apparently I brushed it just hard enough that it teetered for a second then fell over, according to Jon.

The surface was pretty wild. Very, very abrasive concrete, with more grip than any other surface I've ever run on. It took the cone clinic and a couple of practice runs on Friday to come to terms with how much grip we had. I bought a pic from Digital Race Photography on Saturday of my car in the offsets near the finish, and you can actually see that the inside front wheel is off the ground.

Mick did damn well for his first major National event. He was smooth and clean and had great lines all weekend. Now he just needs to get comfortable with pushing the car to find the limit on a new surface. Still, all in all I was very impressed with what I saw of his driving. I was also impressed with how well he could hold down Ann Hollis' super-potent "chunky" margarita!

    Can't wait for Houston!

As soon as I scan it in. I bought the 8x10 but not the CD, since they wanted another $35(!!!) for the CD. I've got a 2600dpi color scanner here at the house, I'll make my own damn CD.

You're probably pretty excited about the results, 1-2 finish for the Elises in SS. I would have liked to see the results if Ian was there in the black GT3 though.

I hope that's sarcasm. I don't think it has any more grip than mineral wells.

Maybe it didn't in 1st heat, but I certainly noticed it on the practice day.

BTW miatamoto - C Stock ran in 2nd heat, E Stock ran in 4th iirc. They definitely benefitted from better course conditions on Saturday. Even so, Hedderick was flying this weekend!

Fire up the racing excuse generator!

I read about that, was it wet or just colder earlier in the day?

Yep, the Elise drivers had a good showing. 1st place was flying at 1.4 ahead of second, ouch. I think Houston will be interesting with several more good Z06 drivers in the mix.

Phil and Wayne both made the same comments. Stating that the practice course was very sticky but the actualy course was anything but.

Ben Castillo and Tod Milstead had issues with track surface on Saturday morning. They could not keep the tail of the car behind them, regardless of the settings we came up with. We finally changed the rear bar settings and the car seemed to settle down, but too late for them to give it an honest effort. Wayne and I made our own adjustments before taking to the course in 4th heat and the car was considerably more controllable. However, after having to remove a front wheel during impound, we discovered the tire was toast, indeed all the way to the cords.... Wayne was in third and I was in fifth. Andy had run away and hidden from all of us, leading the class by .7.
2nd through 5th was seperated by only half second. With a tire change and a few more adjustments, Ben and Todd took the car out in first heat, with Ben scorching the STX competition by .3 on his first run. Todd also ran better, but both of them were too far behind (nearly two seconds) on Saturday to catch the STX leaders. During our runs in STS in fourth heat, Wayne put down a run that would have landed him in first, except for the cone that went with it. He backed it up on his final run, but was about .3 slower than his first run. He actually beat Andy's time on Sunday, but not enough to place better than third. I stayed in fifth...

Yes, I do. I took 431 stills and 4 videos. But none of the tornado that was about 300 yards south of the Days Inn, or the damage done to that used car lot about 2 miles south, by a second, larger, tornado.
