Looks like the biggest hitters are:
38.00 A/C
37.00 soft top
33.00 Passenger seat
27.00 Spare tire and jack

Axis Power Racing makes an OEM-style carbon fiber hardtop. I think it weighs about 10-15lbs with a Plexi rear window (more with glass).
You don't need one for CSP - a standard hard top will work just fine, since you'll only be using it for transit anyway (no need to race with the hard top on).
You can cut fenders for tire clearance, but you cannot replace entire body panels, iirc.
Your best weight loss in CSP is going to come from lightweight wheels (check), lighter engine components (header & intake), removing the soft top, update/backdate bracing, removing the a/c, and swapping out for the lightest seats you can stand. Andy Hollis used to use fiberglass kart seats, since they weighed about 5 pounds each. Not really comfortable for driving on the street, however.
Basically, if you're serious about this, you need to comb through the rulebook and start removing every extraneous part of the car that you can. Got a front airdam? Ditch it. A/C? See ya. Soft top? dead weight. Roll bar? Fuggedaboudit. Bracing? Not a chance.
You should be able to drop 200+ pounds without spending a penny... but you'll have a car with no top, tunes, or a/c.

You read my mind. Do I want to drive home from a Mineral Wells event in August with no A/C and no tunes? Hell no!Originally Posted by Dave04

I removed the door speakers, but not the speakers in the seats. I don't really want to give up the tunes. I can live without the A/C.

Wouldn't want to try pulling a closed trailer but it would handle an open trailer nicely!Originally Posted by Dave04

Probably will go to removable speaker boxes at that time. I'm not changing out the seats for a little while.Originally Posted by Titus

Second summer here in Tejas, but I'd take 110 here over 100 plus 100% humidity in FL and GA anyday. As long as the air is moving and I'm in the shade I've got no problems.Originally Posted by POS Racing

My wife actually made that suggestion to reduce the race weight a couple of weeks ago. I'm just not comfortable driving with headphones in.Originally Posted by altiain

No quality loss like an FM tuner either.
It's not bad... provided you quickly take a shower when you hit the house.Originally Posted by sammm
