The conversion of a front wheel drive motor to work in a rear wheel drive car would be kinda painful. What transmission were you planning to use?
Hey everyone, i currently have the oppurtunity to get my hands on a 2.0 DOHC from a Ford Focus. Would it be possible to fit, and instal this motor into the miata? Please if you know of anyone that has performed this transformation please let me know. THanks everyone!

Good question has this swap ever been done before?? Do you get the ECU along with the motor??Originally Posted by Dave04
What kind of Focus motor. If it is an SVT motor those are 170hp, but if it is out of a zx3, its only rated at 130.

Lightness? What's that? I drive a PRHT!
Yep. Plug and play this is not.
Some things to consider that you will have to have.
A RWD tranny that bolts up.
Custom drive shaft
Custom Motormounts
ECU and all the wiring involved to make it work.
Running fuel lines, wiring and new coolant hoses.
Resolving any unexpected clearance issues or other conflicts
All this for 400cc?
If you're going to do a motor swap, at least put a V8 in it and make it worth your while. There are numerous folks who have installed a 5.0 Mustang V8.
Even if it is the 170hp SVT motor AND you can get it installed and running, you could get 170+hp by just going FI on you 1.6.
If it were me, I'd go FI. Simple bolt on HP and effective.

I have no clue on the transmition, I had not thought about alot of the fact that yall have, and it would be lot more trouble then it is worth. I will deffinatly have to look in to the FI, and probably go down that route.
