Hello everyone. My name is Chris. I live in Dallas near Knox-Henderson. I bought a 1995 black miata about 6 months ago. During the Dallas ice storm last month, my back (plastic) window cracked. I have to replace the window and am considering replacing the whole top. I went to the dealer and the price was out of sight. I am thinking I might be able to replace the top myself, but it may be beyond my capabilities. I also don't know what top to buy. If anyone has any advice on what top to get and who might be able to help me replace it, I would be greatly appreciative.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Welcome to the madness!

Several of us have replaced tops on our cars at one time. I'm sure someone here can help you score a deal on a replacement top, and we'd be happy to help you put it in!

Welcome! I've never swapped a top-off-the-frame before, but have replaced the top-on-the-frame assembly. That makes the job super easy and you will end up with a better product if you can find a used M2 assembly (I bought one off of Ebay last year). I'm sure you could get some help from forum members if you go that route.

    Welcome to MME!

How bad is the main top? You can replace just the back window.

BTW. You might not want to list your cell phone number on a public forum it may get you some unwanted calls.

    Welcome!

I just replaced the back window by cutting out the old window and gluing in one that I cut out from a sheet of auto grade vinyl.

I got the supplies from TAP plastics.

I'll sell you the remainder of the vinyl and the adhesive if you're interested. Could be a temporary fix. I'm happy with my new window. PM me.
