Best Joint in town for FI!
Track Dog Racing...
Tell 'im you heard it here...
Hey guys,
I've been silent for quite a while now. But it's time to get my 93 back on the road. I'm still very new to the whole Turbo thing. Does anyone know of a good F/I shop in the area? The car was previously serviced by Alara Racing in Houston. Clint Host did some tuning on the FM III. I posted a thread on the pointy board, but thought I'd post here as..well.. this is a DFW forum (for the most part).
I just replaced the battery w/ an Optima Yellow top to get the thing going. Old battery was dead! There was quite a bit of condensation blown from the exhaust. That was scary. I kinda freaked out actually. Now that I travel and work a few Sundays, I can't commit to autocross really. But, I'll be out there for Saturday events! Mainly to spectate.
BTW, I will have a trailer for sale in the next month or so if anyone's interested. It's going to be a while before I can dedicate more time for autocross unfortunately. The trailer can come with 4 1994 wheels and tires (Hollow 'R' rims w/ slightly used Falken Azini's attached. I'll post in classifieds when ready to sell. Best offer will take.
Look forward to seeing ya'll again!
Jeff

Isn't Gary primarly a Supercharger guy? I didn't think he'd be one to sink a bit to tool around with a turbocharger.
I do like Gary and wouldn't mind a bit taking my car to him for some TLC tuning!
Does Gary work on Sharpie's car? He and I have a similar set up if I recall correctly.
Thanks again,
Jeff
Gary has designed and sells intercooler setups for both BRP and Flyin Miata Turbo kits, and I have seen him work on tuning 2 different BRP Turbo cars.Originally Posted by jmcshiner

Sorry... just re-read your post and realized the car is already Turboed... I also think you are likely the same person I gave a lengthy reply to in Miata.net. My post over there is more appropriate to what you are looking for.![]()

As far as FI in Dallas Gary is the man. I asked Joetech about what they know about Miata's and FI and they said they have never played with them much. Gary used my car to develp his FM intercooler setup and I have been very pleased with it.
I tinker with my own tuning just so I understand more, and FM is a source of help as well. I know Gary has a wideband setup that he uses for tuning others cars so he may be able to help you out if you don't feel safe with it.
What all do you want done? Tuning or mechanical?

I really just want someone to check the tuning. It's probably fine. There is an updated chip that came with the car, but was never installed. I'm still reading about the turbo, ECU link, etc... Mechanically, I feel the car is fine, other than the damn pinging at start up. Fresh oil will help with that.
I'll call Gary and see when he's available.
Thanks a lot guys!
