Default Failing Syncros on a 03?

i test drove an 03 LS that they have at Town North today. it felt like there may be a problem with the syncros. every time i shifted into 2nd, 3rd gears the stick would shake really hard in my hand, and let out a little buzz. it sounded a lot like the buzz when you grind a gear, but much quieter. im thinking that maybe those syncors are going out. i know that its a really new car, but that just didnt seem normal.

Fail(ing/ed) syncros usually result in gear grind. Doesn't take long to kill them if there's a weak slave cylinder and/or a driver that forces shifts.

However, the violent shaking of the shifter sounds like a bigger problem. I'd pass until the seller fixes the problem.

Is the '03 model affected by the clutch-shudder issue?

First gear is where ya really notice the shudder, but I do think some early '03 were also affected.

Tell us more about this '03 how many miles? 5-Speed or 6-Speed?

Yes, some of the 03's were affected by clutch shudder. The dealership popped a new clutch disc and one other part (don't recall which offhand) to fix the issue on mine.
