The 215's aren't bad in the wet as long as there are not puddles. If so, they skip like a flat rock on a pond.new 615s have to be much better in the wet then old 215s.

The video I posted is a set of thoroughly worn 215s... Don't sweat it. Worry more about the drive to/from than competitiveness.I am wondering if I should go ahead and get my new Azenis 615s installed. The thought was to cook off what is left of my 215s at the event, but it doesn't sound like there will be a lot of cooking going on, and new 615s have to be much better in the wet then old 215s.

That is exactly my concern. I am aiming for a last place finish... I just want to get to and from the site in one piece.
Lube your windshield wiper bushings and you'll be fine. All my rainy encounters in the Miata were slowed more by windshield wiper inadequacy than by tires.

FWIW, I wouldn't worry too much about tread depth unless we get a torrential amount of water. lugnutjon took FTD at the first S2k event last year, in the rain, with standing water, on V710s.And I would bet that my hard 215s at the wear bars would be even better at skipping.
