Default Are there any shipping companies that don't suck nuts?

Why do shipping companies suck so bad? Last fall FedEx decided to ship a set of magnets I'd ordered to Fort Myers, FL, instead of Fort Worth, TX.

Today, my local UPS guy decides to deliver my new set of Azenis to some house about five blocks from here. Why? Who knows? The delivery address on the packages were correct, but Sparky decided that some other house - which doesn't share a single number with my address nor sound even remotely like my street - deserved them more than I did. I guess it was still in North Richland Hills, so it was close enough?

Bunch of freakin' idiots. What the f$#& does it take to get a package delivered these days?

Did you ever find your tires??

And the answer to your question is they all suck.

Sorry to hear about that Altiain, maybe you pissed the guy off somehow? Or you delivered a pizza to the wrong place instead of his house...

I know exactly where they are, but it isn't here.

UPS is going to send a "trace" driver or something like that out tomorrow. If I haven't heard anything form them by mid-afternoon, I'm going to track them down myself when I get home form work tomorrow.

    Iain, I feel your pain.

In 2000 I had a super-critical package that got shipped UPS overnight. They delivered it to my work address at night (8p). Then they delivered it the next day to my home address during the day (2p). Each time they told me that my only option was to wait 24 hours to either pick it up or redeliver. In the words of Bender: I was boned.

My attitude is that they're all going to make mistakes, so I go with the ones that have the best systems for handling the mistakes. UPS is the dead last bottom of my list. At least FedEx and DHL have a method of contacting the drivers so if there's a problem with delivery they can either turn around and deliver again or make arrangements for you to pick it up at the station THAT NIGHT. UPS doesn't.

UPS works well for me. Guess I'm lucky and have good drivers at home & work. If I'm worried about it, I have it sent FedEx to be held at the station.

We had Fed-Ex deliver a large deposit check to Bell Helicopter Hurst last year, they said they couldn't find it. I went to Bell and found it, the address was correct on the envelope, still have no clue why they delivered it to Bell!

Then I had the ongoing MazdaSpeed parts getting delivered to the local Mazda Dealer, who of course knew nothing about any of my shipments. Funny thing was the guy I spoke with had the same name as the signature on all the shipments.... Fed-Ex said they just screwed up and were sorry (3 times......)

We tend to use UPS and USPS these days but that is always subject to change....

Thats true, I live pretty close to the Fort Worth Fed Ex location. So if I dont feel like waiting until 6-7pm for the delivery Ill just tell them to hold it and pick it up that morning.

Hey guys -- I never said that FedEx or DHL deliver any better than UPS. I'm just saying that if you miss a delivery you have a better chance of getting it before the next day.

Don't write of DHL, either. I hadn't really dealt with them much until forced to by one of our vendors. My experiences have been really good so far.

Edit: To answer the original question, Iain, everyone's right: they all suck nuts.
